Characters: Dysali, D'ren
Description: Dysali gets out of the infirmary with D'ren for company, and he winds up showing off his new Weyr.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 8 of Turn 3

She was free! Her bandages gone, her smile back, if a little more character-filled because of the scar on her cheek, and her muscles beginning to return, the young greenrider stood under her own power, saying goodbye to the bed she'd been in for a sevenday. D'ren was to come and walk with her out of the Infirmary, and Lillyth was bugling her happiness to any dragon that would listen. The Healers were coming now, to officially release her, and she could barely contain herself from running. Though entering the infirmary was sobering, D'ren continued to whistle a happy tune as he made his way toward Dysali's cot. His face broke into a smile when he spotted her, and his pace quickened. "Hi!" He called cheerfully.

"D'ren!" If possible, her smile was brighter. "Thank you for coming today. I know so many riders are still here, and I am sad for them.
But I am happy to fly again, too." She held out her hand shyly for his, not sure if he'd take it, and grinned at the Healers as they sent her on her way, officially back to duty, if light duty for one more sevenday. "It's a wonderful feeling, being free again. Almost, it makes you forget." He took her hand as they made their way toward the door, feeling thankful yet again that she had not been injured worse. "Almost." D'ren said. Nothing would make him forget that horrible day, but he wouldn't let himself feel guilty for enjoying happy moments like this. "It's so good to have you out of there." He gave her hand a quick squeeze. "Its good to be out of there.." She said softly, squeezing his hand in return. But in her own eyes were the memories. "So many of us are still in there...Scary isn't it?" She said as they walked outside, and headed toward the weyrbowl, where Lillyth was waiting. Dysali couldn't wait to fly again and just be -near- her dragon. }: You are free! Oh come quickly! We must fly. I am healed they say, and have been able to fly for two days. But I need you. {:

Her smile softened at that. "Lillyth says to hurry.." She chuckled softly. "We'll go as fast as it's safe for you to go. I don't want you to strain yourself, especially on your first day out." D'ren smiled gently. He wondered if he might be acting a little over protective. "We can fly together now!" He went on excitedly, "And I can show you my weyr!"

Dysali blushed bright red at that reminder that he was growing up in his training, but she found her voice as they emerged. "You and Menanth have moved into your won Weyr now? OH that's wonderful! I remember when Lillyth and I did; we were so thrilled! I can't wait to see your's.."
she finished a bit shyly.

They made their way out into the bowl, where a green fully grown dragon and a very nearly fully grown bronze awaited them. "They look so nice together." D'ren commented, looking at the dragons. }: So do you. :{ Menanth said, eyes whirling pleasantly. Dysali grinned at D'ren after she came out of a long reverie with Lillyth, renewing their bond. "They do look nice together. I hope they always will.." She added softly, her eyes catching his for a moment, before she went on. "So, you and Menanth have your own Weyr now? You must be about to be Senior Weyrlings!"

Now it was D'ren's turn to blush, but only slightly. He had grown up quite a bit over the last few trying weeks. "Our first trip /between/ is at the end of the month. Menanth and I are ready for it, but I'll admit I am a little nervous."

Dysali grinned at him from Lillyth's side. "It's a big responsibility.
You start blooding and everything is much more ..real.. " She said quietly, the grin fading as she recalled the seriousness of the tragedy they'd just went through. "You become a dragonrider in so much more than name then, or almost..." She sighed softly. "But I can't wait for you two to join us!"

He nodded. "Even after everything that's happened," D'ren tried not to look at the scar on her face, "I want to be up there, fighting Thread." }:Me too.:{ His dragon concurred.

"I think, more than ever, I want to be doing the fighting. Being on a dragon who can't flame in the middle of _that_ was one of the most terrifying experiences of my short life." A faint shiver and she glanced at him, seeing how he didn't quite look at her face the way he always had. Softly she smiled, and it was the same smile as ever. The scar was thin and small, along her cheekbone. "Do you think I'm ugly now, D'ren? I have more scars than I used to.." were the quiet words, though without fear of his answer. If he said yes, she would still survive, since she didn't believe it herself. But she hoped he did not think so, not after waiting ..and loving.. so long. "Ugly? No, no!" He stepped closer to her and laid a gentle hand on her cheek.
"It makes you look more beautiful. Stonger." D'ren traced the scar.
"But it also reminds me of how you were hurt. How you could have died."

Her smile grew wider at his comment and she leaned her head into his hand for just a moment. "Thank you, D'ren. I'm glad you think that... "
The smile faltered a little when he went on, and she nodded, sober again. "I remember too." She looked at him a moment. "But I didn't die, and that means we get to fly together." Her grin returned then because she meant more than one kind of flying, and it showed. "And I get to see the Weyr you and Menanth have earned!" "We could go right now, if you'd like." D'ren smiled brightly. He was eager to show his new weyr off to everyone. It was the first place he'd had that was his alone.

"I would love to see your Weyr, D'ren." There was something adult about her smile, something missing before the accident, and before she'd slept with I'lan. It seemed as if both of them were growing up, fast. She held out her hand for him, and grinned. "Lillyth wants to give me a lift!" "Alright, let's go!"
