Date: month 2, day 18 of Turn 4
R'alt had come to this sharding party to forget his troubles, but so far, the entertainment wasn't working. Scowling, the brown weyrling nursed his drink, watching as his friends--who'd gotten completely fed up with his snarky attitude and had decided to leave him to sulk all on his own--played drinking games, laughed and danced and kissed on other young men and women who milled about the weyr. A few of those pretty girls had come up to him earlier, trying to entice him with sultry looks and suggestive promises, but he just hadn't been interested. He had only had one girl on his mind, and he couldn't get her face out of his head.
Snarling quietly, he downed the rest of his drink, leaning back into the chair he'd claimed as his own. Sharding Isaline. To ignore him for a sharding _month_, only to have her say she'd been seeing sharding V'lorn in that time. V'lorn! Of all the scorched dragonriders she could pick from... R'alt hated to admit it, but his pride was stinging from the blow. His ego had taken a beating, and he certainly wasn't used to that. No, not at all.
Sensing someone to the right of him, he turned his head and looked up into Oria's green eyes. "Hey, honey. I'm going to tell you right now, I'm not in a very good mood tonight. You'd probably do better to find someone else for the evening." They'd taken a roll or two together before, and he was fond of her enough to at least be honest with her. She deserved that much.
"Sure about that," she said slipping into the chair next to him. "I'm sure I could think of some way to cheer you up."
He snorted, rolling the glass between his hands. "I don't think so. I wouldn't be very...good to you tonight, Oria. Find someone else."
"I could help you relax," she said. "Those healers knots of mine, well I've learnt a thing or two about massage. Believe me, by the time I'm done, you'll be ready for anything."
"So you think you're good enough to take my mind off of every sharding thing?" Like his wounded pride and a certain blonde-haired girl?
"Not everything, but enough to get you in a better mood."
He glared down at his glass, half-wishing it was completely full again. He had to admit, the thought of getting drunk was tempting.... R'alt downed the rest of the alcohol. But he _really_ didn't want to suffer from one of those monstrous hangovers in the morning. It certainly wouldn't help temper his surly mood any. And besides, as Oria was reminding him, there were other ways to get so lost in sensation he wouldn't be able to sharding think about anything complicated.
And Isaline was sharding complicated.
When he looked back up at Oria, there was a spark of interest in his eyes that hadn't been there before. Shards, he wanted to feel good. Wanted to dominate...wanted to scrape his pride back. And he couldn't do that by just sitting on his ass and feeling sorry for himself. But he _could_
make himself feel better with a girl. He hadn't been ready before--but he was now! "Want to make out first?"
"I thought you'd never ask," she replied, easing closer to him.
"Then get off that scorched chair and come here." R'alt patted his thighs, a dark brow raised in arrogant expectation.
She smiled as she moved onto his lap, her lips lifted to meet his.
