Out on the flagstones, R'nali's brown settled to the flagstones of the Hold.
"I'm glad your dragon's a brown R'nali. I'm not sure a blue could. handle all this stuff." Faran gasped as he passed the bundles up to R'nali to be secured on the dragon's great neck. Kio fluttered up to the brown and settled onto his big nose, looking at him.
}:Why hello to you little one. Where is you're master bound today?:{ Saria heard someone ask. She turned to R'nali as she passed him the squirming Scout.
"Did you say something brownrider?" She asked politely.
"No miss. Why do you ask?" He looked at her oddly.
"No reason." Saria said quickly, curious about this mystery voice. But then she had to deal with the heart wrenching problem of saying goodbye to her last family member. She turned to Faran and hugged him. "I'll write." She said.
"You'd better. I'll send Kio at least once a day to remind you." Faran said jokingly. Saria punched him lightly on the arm and turned to the brown dragon. He lowered himself so she could mount him. R'nali offered his hand which she gladly took. She settled Scout in his basket and settled herself behind the dragonrider.
"Ready miss?" R'nali asked. Saria gave him a thumbs-up and looked down at her brother. She waved at him as the big brown dragon leapt into the sky. He waved back until they vanished /between/.
Saria gasped at the bone searing cold she'd heard so much about, but then they were above the Weyr. Dragons of all colors and sizes lounged about the sun drenched cliff face and Saria smiled. This was a whole new world to explore.
}:Welcome back Logodith.:{ Saria heard someone say. She wondered how that could be since the wind whipped about her ears, taking any and all sound passed her ears before she could catch them.
}:We bring the Harper's sister.:{ Said another voice.
Saria shook her head to clear it. It was just the wind, had to be. Saria looked at the looming ground and grinned. There was nothing wrong here, couldn't be.
R'nali helped her unpack and gave her the number of her new room. She thanked him and turned to the dragon. "Thank you as well Logodith. It was a lot of fun to ride you." She patted his muzzle like her brother had told her his friend's dragon liked it.
}:You're welcome.:{ Said a voice. Saria stared at the dragon. Could it?... Nah impossible.
"Logodith says you're welcome." R'nali told her. She only nodded and turned to look at the Weyr, grasping a firm hold on Scout and her belongings. R'nali jumped to the ground and took a bag from her, insisting that he help. She nodded again, pretending to have a problem controlling Scout on his rope leash. This wasn't hard to fake considering all the new scents she was _sure_ he smelled. Saria was led to a room far within the cliff. There were no windows and it was a long walk to everything. But she was here and that was what mattered. She was also sure she wouldn't hear anymore of the "wind" this far within the cliff.
After she had dropped her stuff off and thanked R'nali she looked about her and Scout's new home.
"Well Scout this is bound to be some fun huh?" She asked him. He panted at her in response and proceeded to claim the ratty couch that was in her "sitting room" as his. Saria laughed and began to unpack; the voices on the wind a long forgotten thought with her.
