Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 3, day 4 of Turn 4
The day had gone by smoothly, something Kaefen was grateful for. Since he and his wife had arrived at Garnet Valley there had been much work for him. Finally, he was able to sit down and worry about nothing but relaxing. Their accommodations at the Hold were nice, nothing extravagant, but for a Healer and his wife, they were perfect.
Kaefen sat down in a comfy chair that sat in the corner of the room and began untying his boots. Sighing at the relief his feet felt at the loosening of the laces.
"Kaefen." Isuel appeared before him, holding a basket of bedding. "Done for the day I see." She smiled, setting the basket down and kneeling in front of him. "Good. You can help me put new bedding down." She finished unlacing his boots and slipped them off his feet, setting them next to the chair against the wall.
Putting his head back, the Healer exaggerated a sigh, closing his eyes. "What have you been up to, love?" He asked, moving his head to the side to look at Isuel.
"Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning." She giggled lightly. "Or, in other words... talking, talking talking."
Kaefen was the type of man who held no authority over his wife and was glad to know that she didn't mind her duties as housekeeper. Yet, he also knew that when his wife was in the presence of other women... gossip and giggling was sure to ensue.
Isuel moved to stand up and pushed the basket into the bedroom with her feet. "You know, you're birthday is coming up." She called from the bedroom. "Is there anything you would like?"
Slowly standing, he stretched his arms towards the ceiling and yawned. "Nothing. I ask for nothing." He followed her trail into the bedroom and leaned against the doorway. Isuel was looking at him and she just shook her head and went back to smoothing the linens over the bed.
"One of these days I'm going to take that cue and just not get anything."
"Good." He smiled, knowing she was teasing him. "You're so good at surprising me and I would hate to ruin that." He picked up on of the furs from the basket and ran his hands over the softness.
Once she had finished with the linens, she turned to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "You can be such a pain sometimes." Smiling, she looked up at him. "Oh, I got a message from my mother today. Said for me to ask you about grandchildren again."
Kaefen laughed lightly, gently embracing her. "Gera just won't leave me alone about that will she?" He loved his wife's mother very much, but her nagging about children wasn't exactly what Kaefen wanted to hear. It had been three Turns since they were married and children was something Kaefen wanted desperately. But, he also believed that when it happened, it meant it was time for it to happen. He just wished Gera shared the same sentiment.
"My mother just wants the best and I am her only daughter, so she has to nag. Mothers duty." Isuel moved away from him, locking eyes for a second before she went back to making the bed.
"Mother's duty." He shook his head. "Maybe we should hold off on the children, just to make your mother itch even more for grandchildren." Kaefen came up behind his wife and kissed her on the neck.
Isuel laughed and rubbed her neck where his lips had touched the skin. "And you think you can do that? You may have self control, husband, but you over-estimate yourself."
Kaefen smiled widely, reaching around Isuel to grab a corner of the blanket in her hand and moved around the bed to help her. "Maybe, but we can still try."
"You just want to spite my mother. Which isn't very nice when your wife wants those children just as badly." Isuel tucked her side of the blanket over and moved the pillows back in their places.
"Maybe so, but it would be fun. Well, besides the ear pulling I know she would do if it takes another three Turns."
"You would never hear the end of it and I know you wouldn't be able to deal with that for much longer." Isuel replied, glaring at her husband. But, in the back of her mind, she was going over ideas for Kaefen's birthday present. The one he was adamant about not wanting every Turn.
