DCW: Keep Them Safe (Part 1/2)

Writers: Roxanne
Date Posted: 26th May 2007

Characters: Jyramikah
Description: Jyramikah helps her family take shelter in her weyr.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 19 of Turn 4

After the meeting with the Weyrleaders and Wingleaders, Jyramikah had been busy making sure all the preparations were underway and answering questions from worried riders. She took a moment to decide to get her children and sister's family on their way towards her weyr to get out of the way of possible water surge.

}:They will be safe with me.:{ Ikoladith reassured her rider again. She had spent the morning ordering the dragons to keep out of the sky and reassuring them as needed. The weather bothered her, but she was not going to let the others know it.

**I know, Ikola. I know. How is Calanith faring?** she asked worried about her grandmother's declining health. She hoped that the woman would stay in her weyr and not insist on helping out somewhere. At least her weyr was not on the ground level as both she and Calanith were able to manuever allright, but Jyramikah wanted her to move to a lower level soon.

}:She's fine. They are staying in their weyr.:{ the gold replied after talking to the older green. The green was worried about her rider, but had asked Ikoladith not to tell Jyramikah until after the storm was over. The gold agreed reluctantly as her rider did have a lot on her mind already.

**Good. I'll be back to our weyr with the children shortly.** she replied glad to hear that her grandmother was being sensible. She was a stubborn lady when it came to a lot of things and making her own decisions was one of those areas.

Jyrakon had been watching for his mother ever since they had been informed of the chance of water flooding out their rooms. He knew that his mother wouldn't let them stay down here when she had a higher weyr. "Mama!" he cried excitedly as he saw her approaching.

"Jyrakon!" she returned letting him embrace her and smoothing his hair away from his face. She hadn't realized how worried he might have been at the news of the storm.

The younger children followed their brother's example and surrounded their mother. She smiled at them and said, "Jyrakon, take your sisters and help them get their bags." She scooped her youngest son up into her arms and hugged him to her as she went to find her sister.

Akrona had been busy making sure all the children had extra clothes and their favorite toys since no one knew exactly what was going to happen with the storm. She wanted to be safe and was glad that her sister had stopped by after sending Tanzin with a note explaining what needed to be done.
"Everything's ready to go. We can take the children to your weyr. My husband is helping with the final preparations and will join us when he can." she said as she picked her own son up from where he was happily playing with a stuffed toy.
