The small room was filled with bright colors. Amowyn had taken everything of color that she owned and hung it all about. She wanted her daughters birthingday to go well. It had been a strange turn for them. She glanced at the cake she had made. Her mind wandered back to a few sevensdays before. She had been out picking fresh herbs when she heard someone out on a runner. She was surprised to find it was someone she knew from her former life. They spoke for a long time and she found out that Havernickle had died. He had died while in bed with his new wife. Because his son was far to young to run the hold, the hold had fallen to his younger brother. Havernickle had hated his brother.
Everyone else in the hold had loved him. The news had come as a shock to her. She now found herself as free. She said her goodbyes to her friend and had gone home to her little girl. Amowyn came back to herself and smiled. Now she didn't need to worry about what would happen to her or her precious little girl. Aavyn came out of her room wearing a bright yellow dress her mother had made. She looked adorable. They ate a fun little meal of Aavyn's favorite foods and cake. Just as they were sitting down to open the few gifts Amowyn could get for her, there was a knock at the door. Amowyn answered it and brought in a small package and a letter. She opened the letter and read it softly to herslef. Dearest Daughter, Kalynsa returned home with stories of your wellbeing. We were thrilled to leard of you being alive. Father says to be sure to tell you we do not blame you for not telling us where you'd gone. After your 'death' we found out just what kind of man he was. We ask that you forgive us. We had no idea what he would put you through. We want you to know we love you and little Aavyn. Please add our gift to her birthingday gifts. We love you and can't wait to hear from you soon. Love Mom and Dad.
Amowyn let a couple tears fall as she handed the gift to her daughter. She smiled as she pulled out the handmade blanket. It was bueatiful. Aavyn opened her other gifts and then came to her mothers lap. She carried a little stuffed gold dragon and a handmade blanket as they curled together on the couch. Perhaps now everything will go well. Now if she could only find a good man to love them both.
