Kapera

Kapera

Kapera hadn't forgotten her promise to check in on the bronzerider and see if he was working. Tonight was a night when she had happened to work late. As she left her office, she decided to look and see if U'kaiah was working. So, without invitation, she approached his door and poked her head in, seeing if he was there.

The bronzerider raised his head at the sound of the door opening.
"Well, Lady Kapera," he smiled, setting his stylus aside. "Coming to check my moral?"

"Indeed." she replied. "You're working late, I see."

"Waiting for a goldrider to take notice of me," he smiled, folding his hands in across his lap. "Now I can't be the _only_ bronzerider working late, can I?"

"Perhaps, but they're not the ones I'm checking on."

"And how is that _I_ am so honored by you, lady?" U'kaiah asked innocently.

"Did you think I'd forget? I did promise to check on you, and here I am." she said. "So, how _is_ your morale doing?"

He shrugged and waived at the pile he had been working on. "Well, I'm sitting alone in my office surrounded by hidework. I'd say it could be in need of improving."

"I won't tolerate low morale in my weyr, so I suppose it's my duty to improve it." she said. "Do you ahve any suggestions?"

"Hmmmm," U'kaiah hummed thoughtfully. "Stop Thread from falling from the sky?"

"I wish I could do that, but Weyrwomen don't control everything, unfortunately."

"Do you have any other ideas?" the wingleader asked, a cocky grin pulling at the corner of his lips.

"I'm sure I can think of something." She moved aside some hides and perched on the end of his desk. "What does a nice bronzerider like you do when you're _not_ working all night?"

"Oh, you know, the usual," he shrugged, his eyes drawn to the line of skin along her thigh exposed by the slit in her skirt. "I like to have a few drinks, meet new people... Get to know people a bit better..."

"We could always get to know each other better." she teased.

"Fantastic!" he grinned. "So, where are you from?"

"Windswept Islands." she replied. "And you?"

"Dragonfall's the only home I remember. I know these halls like the backs of my hands. I can still name every Weyrwoman, Weyrleader, Wingleader and Wingsecond since I was five turns old." Even at that age he had been planning for the time he would Impress his very own bronze.
What boy didn't? But he always knew, he _knew_ he would be where he was one day. And higher.

"It must be nice to spend your entire life in one place. You must know everyone here very well."

"Many, but certainly not everyone." So many had transfered in, or out.
And too many had been lost... "For example, I don't know _you_ half as well as I would like, Weyrwoman."

"That is true. But then again, that's why we're having this little talk, isn't it?" she asked. "To get to know each other."

"Well, I think I should warn you, I have a bit of a reputation for getting to know Weyrwomen. You might have heard about it." And this would be a good time to bring up Trae... Before they got to know each other _too_ well...

"Oh?" she asked. "I know you spend some time at Dolphin Cove lately."
Riyanth had seen his bronze leave several times.

"Yes," U'kaiah nodded. "Traelyn and I are more than just lovers. We care about each other very deeply. And before Trae there was Jaela.
She and I were also lovers, and... Well, who knows what would have happened had she not died. I cared for her too. But I don't want you to think that I am just out to collect golden trophies. And I also don't want you to think that I'm looking for another Weyrwoman to care for..."

He'd bedded 2 goldriders? Impressive. It wasn't hard to bed multiple bronzeriders, especially if one was a goldrider, but considering the comparative rarity of goldriders... "I wouldn't want anything beyond sex anyway." she assured him.

Good. Now that they had that awkward detail out of the way... "Well, as long as we have that established, why don't we get to know each other a little better over a bottle of wine?"

"I support that concept fully." she told him.

"My Weyr?" The bronzerider wasn't quite sure he was ready to take a tumble on the bed Jaela had once slept on.

"That's fine by me." she assured him.

"Can you give me a candlemark to ensure my morale is good and low?" he asked, waiving at the stack of hides that unfortunately would not do themselves.

"Not a problem. Just have Kalamath speak to Riyanth."

"I'll do that," he said as he picked up his stylus once more.
"Although, I have to warn you, there is a distinct possibility you might walk in on me still in my bathing chamber."

"Would that be a problem?" she inquired innocently.

He shrugged, eyes dancing with mischief. "Not if you want to scrub my back. I promise I'll scrub yours."

"Sounds like a plan."
