Teseada

Teseada

"You really didn't have to walk me out here you know," said Teseada to the Journeyman Technician by her side. "Onnyth is a bit hard to lose."

The young man grinned, glancing at the gold dragon up ahead. "Perhaps I just wanted to see your lifemate up close," he suggested, his tone teasing.

"You're assuming she'd want to see you," Teseada teased back, hoping that this was what they called flirting. "She's rather picky."

"I _am_ probably assuming way too much," the technician admitted, laughing at himself. "It's just the opportunities to see a gold dragon
- or a weyrwoman - don't turn up every day. And on a day I was rostered on visitor duty, too!"

"Well as you ask so nicely..."

**Onnyth love, there's someone who'd like to meet you,** she told the dragon.

The gold stretched her wings out as the pair approached, she opened one of her multi-faceted eyes and looked the young man over. }:He'll do,:{ she said.

**Almost a compliment,** Teseada assured her. "Onnyth, this is Leise.
He's a Technician here at the Hall."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Onnyth," Leise said, his eyes roving over the gleaming hide, and shaking his head in wonder. "She's very ...
impressive," he whispered to his companion.

"Of course she is, she's a gold dragon, and she likes us all to know it."

"Does she?" He stood there for a long moment, silent and studying the muscular creature in front of him. "Well, I know it," he said finally, with an emphatic nod before turning his laughing expression on the young weyrwoman again. "Are you very proud of her?"

"Incredibly, she's all that I ever dreamed of and more. Like the part of me I never knew was missing."

"Your expression is quite different when you talk about her," Leise said thoughtfully. "Quite different from when you're talking about water flow and temperature gradients. Are many weyrwomen crafters as well?"

She misunderstood the question slightly, and spoke of how the Dragonsfall and Dolphin Cove Weyrwomen had no craft, but that the Weyrwoman's second at Dolphin Cove was a Baker, and thar River Bluff's Weyrwoman held her Mastery with pride. "It's something to aim for."

"Master Technician Teseada?" he suggested. "I can't imagine ever getting there myself," he said with a shrug, "but perhaps you're more ambitious."

"Who knows what the future will bring?" she said. "Perhaps you'll make it there yourself?"

"No." He shook his head. "I hate to admit it but I'm fairly average.
I'll be - I _hope_ I'll be - a competent journeyman, but that's it."

"I'm sure you'll be more than that," she said. "A few postings away from here and you'll see."

"Perhaps a posting to a Weyr ...?" he suggested, smiling down at the young weyrwoman.

"Maybe," she said as she entertained the thought. It would be nice to have people her own age who were not riders, but crafters to talk to about the little things. Or maybe more, she hadn't noticed, but he was quite a good looking man.

"Not until summer," he added, openly laughing now. "I hear it can be excruciatingly cold at Dragonsfall Weyr."

"That's what makes it so nice getting away at this time of the turn, and I was born there!"

"And I was born not far from here." He looked at the gold dragon and wondered if she ever got impatient waiting for her rider to finish her tasks. "You can look out for me in summer, then, at Dragonsfall." He rolled his eyes. "If they'll release me from here."

"I'm sure they would." Teseada reached up to Onnyth, and hand touching the Gold's hide for reassurance. "I should be going now," she said with a smile, "Back to the Weyr."

"Come back any time," he said with a smile for the former apprentice technician.

"I will," she said, returning his smile as she reached for the bundle strapped to the side of her gold containing her riding gear. "I'll look forward to it."

"So will I. But if I don't see you before, look for me in summer." He thought he could arrange an attachment to her Weyr by then, even if only for a short time.
