Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 6, day 12 of Turn 3
Lymria frowned thoughtfully when she looked the fabrics the Weaver had spread out for her. She needed a new dress for fancier occasions. The drawback of maternity was that her old one had become tight in certain places. Besides it was several turns old, so it was high time for new one. "This one looks nice and this one. That one is way too dark for me", she said and pointed to the bundles of fabric.
"How about this, ma'am?" the weaver asked and showed another piece of cloth.
Lymria hhmmmed and pulled it more out, taking few steps backwards. She bumbed into something. Omrian, strapped with large scarf to her hip, was jolted out from a doze and started to bawl.
"Oh, I'm so sorry..." Cinale said, looking apologetically at the young woman when she turned around.
"So sorry," Lymria said almost in unison. She picked Omrian up to her arms. "Ssshh, dear, it's all right" she murmured soothingly for the baby.
Cinale's brow furrowed in concern. "Oh, Shells... I woke him up, didn't I? I'm so sorry, I should've been more watchful of where I was going."
"Yes, but it's not your fault. I was the one walking backwards without warning," Lymria said. She bounced the baby up and down in her arms and, with few hiccups, he calmed down.
"He's adorable," Cinale murmured, a tone - almost like a coo - could be heard in her voice; a tone that one did not hear that often. "What's his name, hon? And what's yours?"
"This is Omrian", the named baby put his fist into his mouth and started to suck it. "And I'm Lymria. Pleased to meet you."
"And I'm Cinale," she smiled. "I run the kitchens here. And what brings you to Vinter Hall today, Lymria?"
"Him," Lymria pointed the Weaver. "I heard he's here today, selling his wares, and I absolutely must have new gather dress," she continued. "I can't understand how I missed him when he was at the main hold," she sighed.
"Would you like to buy clothes, ma'am?" The weaver asked Cinale.
"Well, I was thinking about it," she replied with a smile. "Faranth knows it's high time I bought a new Gather dress myself," she told Lymria.
Lymria nodded. "I do enjoy shopping, do you?" she asked.
"When I actually have marks to go shopping with!" Cinale laughed.
"Well, that's kind of obvious" Lymria laughed too.
She grinned. "Which material were you thinking of getting?" She gestured to the fine fabrics that the weaver had out.
"I'm hesitating between the pale red and yellow-checkered blue. But that forest green might look good on Omrian. He keeps out growing his clothes," Lymria pondered, fingering the fabrics. "I'll take some two feet of that green" she told the weaver and pointed the fabric she wanted.
"Yes, ma'am" the weaver smiled and started to cut a suitable piece.
"Gorgeous color," Cinale commented before she began to scan the potential dress-makings. Her other, older fine dress was green...she wanted to try a new color. "Do you see anything lavender?" she asked Lymria as she began checking behind the cloths.
"No, I don't, but there's light blue that's almost lavender," Lymria answered.
Cinale came over to where Lymria stood, and looked down at the fabric she found. "Oh, well this certianly is beautiful, isn't it?" she smiled as she lifted the cloth. It was quite soft too, and she rather liked the color. "I think I'll take this," she told the weaver. "Though, you might have to measure me...it's been a while since I've gotten a new dress."
"It's gorgeous, but not my colour. I think I'll take the yellow-blue cloth."
"That's a very nice one too," Cinale nodded.
"Yes, it is," Lymria agreed.
"So now that we both have our chosen fabrics, shall we get our measurements?" Cinale smiled as she fingered the cloth in her arms. She could hardly wait to have this new dress. Only every once in a while did this head chef of Vinter Hall's kitchens allow herself to induldge in feminine vanities - and Cinale planned to enjoy every second of it!
"Yes, and settle the prize" Lymria said and turned to the weaver and flashed him a pretty smile. As a trader's daughter, she thought haggling was half of the fun of shopping. And she usually ended up with the upper hand. The poor trader didn't know what was about to hit him.
