K'sedel

"Ciara? You awake?" K'sedel opened the curtain behind which his weyrmate's bed lay. "I brought Radela to see you."

Ciara was standing beside the bed that had been her home for the last couple of sevendays and she turned to smile at her weyrmate upon hearing his voice.
"Hello, loves."

K'sedel shifted the almost a turn old child from one hip to the other. "See, Mama's out of bed today, and looking so much better."

"And I'll feel better as soon as I'm allowed out of here, which should be by the end of the day." Ciara stepped forward, the movement stiff and she limped badly, but she didn't have far to go. "Oh how I wish I could pick you up." She placed a kiss upon her daughter's cheek, then one upon K'sedel's lips. "I'll be so glad to sleep in my own bed tonight."

"Just sleep?" teased K'sedel with a smile, although he knew that most likely a good night's sleep was what she was after. "Radela and I thought you might want to eat with us before you have a nice warm bath first."

"That sounds lovely." Ciara tickled the little girl's tummy, causing the child to giggle and playfully slap at her hand. "I've missed you both so very much."

"We missed you too," K'sedel said. "Her fostermother said she'd cried for you a couple of times."

"Aww, did you miss me?" Radela leaned over, arms held out for her mother.
"I can't pick her up." She looked back toward the bed. "But I can sit with her."

K'sedel moved to put the child on the bed, "Mama will be here in a second."

"Make that a few seconds." Ciara stated with a rueful smile as she shuffled over to the bed and eased herself down. The child immediately clambored onto her lap and Ciara drew her into her embrace. "So what have you been doing to keep yourself busy?"

"Some of K'reyel's hide work, he needs to spend time with Mai and Mayel while he's still small."

"Of course." Radela slapped gently at her mother's face and Ciara playfully nibbled on her fingers. "How are Mai and Mayel doing by the way?"

"Mayel is growing and putting on weight, the healers say he's doing well.
Mai is taking to motherhood really well. And she's good for K'reyel."

"I agree." Ciara nodded, managing to dodge one of the tiny hands that played at her face. "And I know she's a good mother, even in the little time I've seen her with Mayel."

"Just like you are with this little one."

"I do try." Ciara laughed softly. The expression brought about a bit of pain, but nothing like it had before. "Come on, check with the healers and see if I can get out of here yet."

"Well if I take her, then they can see to you." K'sedel waved at his daughter, who hid her eyes with her hand, playing an impromptu game of hiding from her father.

Ciara pried one of the hands away from Radela's face and gasped in mock surprise. "There she is!" She grinned up at her weyrmate. "Then take her.
The sooner I can get out of here, the better."

"Come on then," he held his arms out to the babe, who held hers out to him in turn.
