"Hey, Demalia!" The greenrider peeked out from his office. "Can I have moment of your time?"

"Sure," she smiled at E'naer as she came into his office. "What's on your mind?"

"Work. Our current patch of weyrlings. Do come in" E'naer opened the door fully and kept it open for the girl.

"I think they're doing just fine, it's the ones to come we might have to worry about, with a golden egg on the sands there may be a few unhappy ones to deal with afterwards."

"That too" E'naer sighed. "All those disappointed girls, moaning: why didn't I get the gold? It's the dragon who chooses, not us. What I really had in mind was this: greenriders. We need to have a private talk with them about what it means to them. There's so many of them that we could divide them between us. You talk to the girls and I handle the boys."

Demalia nodded, there were just some things that were better to be heard from another woman. "I know where you are coming from there, mating flights do need a little more explaining, and I know the Weyrlingmaster has spoken to them all generally." She sat down, opposite E'naer's desk. "Some of it, well I think the younger girls may feel better talking to me."

"That they do. Most of them can be pretty shy around a man who is old enough to be their father. Especially if you're trying to talk about sex with them." E'naer could remember some rather awkward moments with young female greenriders.

"Some of the holdbred ones, well it might as well be a taboo subject with them. They still seem to think along the lines of sex as something special to be shared only with a husband. They think it's wrong to just explore things and see what happens."

"I've been in weyr too long, I can't thing like a holdbred anymore" E'naer remarked.

"I can almost understand it, but when the time comes, and if they are not prepared, well I dread to think what might happen."

"That's why we're here, trying to prepare them for it. It's quite shock, even if it isn't your first time" E'naer said, remembering when his dragon had her first mating flight. "What surprised me, back then, was the intensity of the emotions and how little control you had over yourself."

"And that may be what's scaring some of them."

"Yes," E'naer nodded. "That's why were the best ones to handle that matter, not some bronzerider who's always chased and never been the receiving end."

"Although it can't hurt them to know about that too," said Demalia. "After all, us greenriders win every time, a bronzerider may not."

"True, but most bronzeriders don't feel like winners when they woke up with me" the male greenrider laughed.

"You obviously don't smile at them in the right way," teased Demalia.

"But I do smile them, it's the what I have between my legs that bother them" E'naer said.

"Oh well, maybe they don't know when they are onto a good thing."

"Yes," E'naer chuckled. "But we have wandered off the topic, as much I like to talk about bronzeriders."

"Don't we all," replied Demalia with a grin. "When do you want to organise this little talk for?"

"There's no rush, whenever you can find the right time for little private chat. But before they graduate and start having mating flights" E'naer answered and absently scratched the scars on his arm. Even after all this time, they still itched. "We do have a second concern too. The candidates. I'm trying to meet as many as I can."

"I've only met a couple of this lot, outside of the ones that stood with me."

"I've met few who were brought in by Searchriders", E'naer said. Most searchriders were either blue- or greenriders and old friends of his. So, they let him know when they were bringing in candidates and if E'naer was free, he went to welcome them to the Weyr.

"Perhaps we should have a question and answer session with them?" suggested the girl.

"Yes," E'naer pondered. "And the usual lectures about Hatching and what to expect after you have impressed."

"I'll post a notice in the barracks then, give them a couple of days notice."

"And I clear it with the Weyrlingmaster. Well, I think that covers everything for now and should keep us busy for the next days."

"More than busy by the sound of it."

"Not as busy as we will be after the hatching" E'naer said dryly.
