Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 21 of Turn 4
"I thought the month would never end." Ciara heaved a sigh of relief as she dismounted from her dragon and joined her weyrmate and daughter. She gathered the child in her arms and nuzzled her neck, sending Radela into squeals of laughter. "But tomorrow I go back to work." She smiled to her love, eyes bright, "Though today, I get to enjoy you two." She glanced over at the basket that had been tied to her dragon's straps. "Why don't you take Ela and pick a spot? I'll get the food."
"Admit it," teased K'sedel. "You missed it really," he said as he reached out to take his daughter.
"Darling, there's something I missed more than anything, but that will have to wait until Ela is in bed." With a teasing smile, Ciara passed over their child and turned to work at the knot that held the picnic basket securely in place.
A knowing grin crossed the bronzerider's face as he held his daughter close.
"Looks like a nice spot over there," he said, pointing. And it was with a tree to provide some shade, and a stream running near by. "Glad we decided to come up river a bit."
"Yes, this is very nice." Ciara finally got the knot undone and swung around with the basket. "Come on, love, it's about time you fed me."
"How about we both feed someone first?" Radela was pointing to the basket and babbling. "I think she's just as hungry as us, even if she doesn't know how to say the words yet."
"She said ball the other day." Ciara reminded him and one hand released the basket to play at her daughter's fingers. "Yes, yes, darling, don't worry, we won't let you starve. Well, love of my life, are you going to spread that blanket or not? Just put her down and I'll take her hand."
There was only one thing he could do, and that was agree. The child was set down, and the blanket spread out. "So, going to sit down then?"
Radele babbled and, one hand still clutching at her mother's, she bent over and patted at the blanket with her fre one. "Come on darling," Ciara cooed, setting down the basket and easing herself onto the blanket. She placed the child in her lap and took of her shoes before plunking her down in the middle of the blanket, then tended to her own. "I wish we could do this every day."
"If only..." agreed K'sedel as he slipped his own boots off. "Peace, quiet, fresh air and my two favourite ladies."
Radela crawled over to the basket and pulled herself up on it, trying to open it. "Patience little one!" Ciara's hands clasped gently and pulled the girl into her lap. "Shall we break out the feast?"
"Might be an idea. Before someone eats the basket!"
