Teseada

Teseada

D'wrayt watched the gold from the farthest edge of the hatching
cavern. There were eggs on the Sands of Dragonsfall once again and for
that the Weyrleader was glad. It was always a good thing when there
was a clutching for that meant a hatching was not far behind with new
dragonriders to protect the skies from Thread. He had come looking for
her rider and not finding the young woman he would come back at a
later time.

He could have bespoke Onnyth to inquire as to the whereabouts of her
rider, but he didn't want to bother her. The gold had done well for
her first clutch with thirty eggs arrayed in front of her.

D'wrayt turned to go as he had some hidework that needed finishing and
just missed running into the very goldrider he had come to see. "There
you are, my dear Teseada. Congratulations, you and Onnyth have a fine
clutch on the Sands." he said with a soft smile.

"Thank you sir," came the reply. "She's made us all very proud. And they
look so good out there."

"You're welcome. A queen and her eggs will always be one of my favorite
sights. Has she given you any trouble yet?" he asked thinking of some of the
stories his Weyrwomen had told him over the turns.

"Not yet, I'm not sure she knows quite how to behave with all that she's
seeing in front of her now. Both of us are still getting used to the idea
that those eggs on the sands had something to do with us."

"That can be good. I look forward to seeing these eggs hatch and bring us
more dragonriders. Perhaps one of them will be my youngest daughter. She's
going to be standing for the second time and keeps saying that it is the
last time. Only time will tell, I suppose." he said with a chuckle as he
recalled the most recent conversation about that very subject.

"Maybe she will. But she needs to know you're proud of her, no matter what."
That was Teseada's experience speaking. "I thought I was never going to do
it, then along came Onnyth with other ideas. But Da was there for me the
whole time and I knew he cared."

"I hope that she knows that. I am proud of all my children and my
grandchildren. Your da is a good man and dragonrider so he must have
made a great father as well." D'wrayt replied hoping that one day his
children would be able to say that about himself.

"He was always there, for me and Mama."

"I'm glad to hear that. Do let me know if there is anything that you need
and I'll see to it that it is done." D'wrayt replied remembering the reason
he had stopped by once again. It wouldn't be good to have an upset gold on
the Sands and he intended to make sure that both rider and dragon were well
taken care of.

"There's nothing I can think of right now, but if there is anything I'm sure
Onnyth or I will let you know."

"Please do. Once again, congratulations on a fine clutch." D'wrayt said with
a grin.

"Thank you, from both of us."

"You are quite welcome. Have a good rest of the day." the Weyrleader replied
as he turned to head back to his office where there was bound to be
something left for him to do until drills.
