"Weyrwoman's second? Can I talk with you?" Telemon asked. He still surprised
to see exactly how young she was. He just hated to add more burdens to
those young shoulders.
"Of course you can," replied Teseada with a smile.
"It's about the infirmary supplies," the weyrhealer said.
"Are we low on something?" she asked, concern rising in her voice. If it was
something that the healers would need to deal with threadfall injuries then
it needed to be rectified and quickly.
"Yes, several herbs. I've been waiting for re-supplies for months now.
I've talked with the Headwoman, I've written to the Healer Hall, but
nothing," He spread his hands in helpless gesture.
"Would you like me to write to them?" suggested Teseada. "My name might
carry a bit more weight and get them moving."
"Yes, please, if you could," the Weyrhealer asked. "I heard rumous
about stolen tithe and I keep wondering if my supplies where among
those."
"It is certainly possible. And if it weren't for the fact that there are
eggs on the sands I'd take you to the Healer Hall myself to get those
supplies."
"The season is a bit of a problem too, after the winter, everyone's
stores are low," Telemon sighed and rubbed his face.
"Well if you can give me a suggestion as to what to write, I'd gladly get
that letter sent to the Healers."
"You could ask if they have these supplies to send us..." Telemon dug
to his belt pouch and found the list. "Aconite is especially urgent,
rest we can replace with other herbs," he said and handed her the
list.
She scanned down it, checking she could read the list. "I see, what's this
one?" she asked, not wanting to take a chance with the names and ask for the
wrong herb. She held the list out, a finger by the one she wasn't sure of.
"That's ezob. Sorry about the handwriting. I think there's jokes about
healer's handwrinting."
"My da said with my writing I should have apprenticed as a healer, not a
technician," she joked.
Telemon chuckled. "Isn't it almost same? You fix machine, I fix people."
"I suppose it is, and people depend on us as well, to keep things going
around here."
Telemon nodded. "But we need the tools to do that," he said and nodded
towards the list.
"I'll get that letter written and find someone to take it to the Healer Hall
by tomorrow at the latest," she assured the Healer.
"Thank you. I just hope it will cause some action this time", Telemon said.
"I'm sure it will."
"Thank you again. I won't take more of your valuable time," Telemon
said and got up, preparing to leave.
"Not a problem when it's for something like this."
Telemon nodded. "Good luck with the up coming Hatching."
"Thank you," sghe said with a rare smile for the Weyrhealer.
