With a sigh, the bronzerider undid the basket and set it to the side after undoing his riding gear. It was nice to be somewhere a bit warmer no matter how much he loved Dragonsfall. "It is so lovely here." he said glancing around.

"A nice respite from the cold, certainly!" She pulled off her own riding gear, then helped him spread the blanket out. "Are you hungry or do you just want to relax for a bit?"

"I think I want to relax a bit." he replied.

"Good answer!" She pulled him down to the blanket playfully and arranged her riding jacket under his head with all the care of an old auntie before curling up next to him. "Not as relaxing as the pillow fight I once made you participate in, but close!"

"I remember that. The drudges still don't like coming into my weyr, you know."

"That's because they're probably afraid you'll attack them with a pillow!"

"Probably so. What have you been up to lately? I've rarely had a chance to talk to you about anything non work related." he said with a soft chuckle at the thought of him pelting a pillow at an incoming drudge.

"Hmm...babysitting a huge golden dragon in clutch primarily..." Jaela grinned at Calyth's indignation. "And chomping at the bit until I could lead my wing again!"

"You do that so well, Jaela. I'm sure they've missed you. What do you think of Traelyn?"

"Hmm...competant. I think she tries more to be liked than to be respected.
One needs a balance but I think she'll learn in time...." Jaela sighed and rested her head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. "I never had a chance to be liked when I was 'second...no time! Some times I think I come off rather harsh..."

"That was my impression of her. That's only because you tell everyone exactly what you think and most of the time it's truth that they don't want to hear." he replied trying his best to assure her that not everyone thought that way. He liked her the way she was and didn't want her to change just to make people like her more.

"I know..." She sighed again. "Sometimes I do wish I could be...different.
I just _can't_. I was always taught about duty and with Dragonsfall, that duty includes thinking practically, not emotionally."

"You're exactly what the Weyr and I need just the way you are. I love you and wouldn't want you to change just to make people like you." D'wrayt replied running a hand through her hair.

She leaned over and kissed him. One reason she retained her respect and deep feelings for her Weyrleader were his quiet ways, the way he didn't _expect_ anything from her in terms of how she was, who she should be.
"I care very deeply about you and every day I'm glad it was you I woke up to that first time..."

"You have no idea how suprised and nervous I was after the flight. It's a big change going from Weyrlingmaster to Weyrleader. You goldriders are lucky, it's not as big a change to go from one position to another." he said with a smile.

Jaela laughed. "Poor, poor bronzerider..." She kissed along his jawline teasingly. "Never knowing what to expect at the end of a flight..." She snuggled down again. "It's just as traumatic to take flight as 'second and wake up Weyrwoman!"

"I suppose any major change in status can be scary at first." was the reply as he enjoyed her close proximity and teasing.

"Mmmhmm...but you're supposed to be relaxing, not discussing the Weyr or how we got to lead it..." Jaela said lazily, her fingers tangling in his unruly mass of sandy coloured hair.

"Okay, why don't we do something else....."

She smiled, her lips grazing his throat. "What did you have in mind, Weyrleader...?"

"Something that involves rolling around on the grass, I suspect." he replied his voice rather uneven as she worked her way down towards his chest. He would never understand how she had such an effect on him that no other woman did not even his former weyrmate. She could just look at him and he would do anything she asked him to if it was in his power to do so.

She laughed and let her lips do a bit more wandering. "I'd roll anywhere with you, Weyrleader!"

"That's nice to know." he replied as he began to reacquaint himself with the lovely woman he was fortunate to have as a working partner and lover.

It was a long time before either found the time to speak again. Jaela lay quite contentedly in his arms afterward, her head pillowed on his chest as she listened to his heartbeat return to normal. "We _have_
to get out of the Weyr more often!"
