B'vin hissed in pain as the healers cut away his pant leg, and sighed with relief as they then slathered on the precious numbweed. He only half paid attention as the healer stitched up and bandaged his thigh, the other half was focused on Serenth's mind and how her side and wing were being treated by the dragonhealers. He did hear the healer tell him that he had to stay in the infirmary and that they would check the bandages tomorrow. Through it all, over and over, he just kept thinking, **Sharding Thread!**

As soon as Thread had finished D'cal joined the ranks of rider petitioning the healers to see friends and loved ones recovering in the infirmary. Finally he persuaded one to let him in long enough to find B'vin and talk to him just for a minute.

"You sharding wherry's ass," D'cal sighed as he pulled his helmet off his head. "You know you took sharding turns off my life! I saw you and Serenth go /between/ and I swear I had images of you covered in scorching bandages from head to toe! And here you are, a sharding little scratch... I swear, B'vin, _turns_ of my life gone in an instant." The bluerider plopped down on the chair next to his bed, more grateful than really angry. But Thread had not been kind to his friends in the past. Even B'vin was only recently recovered enough to rejoin the fighting wings. "Are you all right?" he finally asked once his tirade had eased the anxiety he had carried on his shoulders for candlemarks.

"Do I look alright?" B'vin grumbled as he waved his arm across his bandaged leg. "I finally convince a Wingleader to let me fill in for a Fall and I can't even dodge a piece of sharding thread! I'll be stuck with the Weyrlings for turns now!"

D'cal would be happy with that. It meant he would be out of harms way at least. "Well, considering the fact that the wings are full of holes as it is, they'll take any warm body they can get at the moment. You won't be put back in the weyrling wing."

"Nice try." he replied sarcastically. Then his thoughts turned away from his self pity and back to his green. "Did you see Serenth? She says she's okay, but I can't see her yet."

"No, I haven't. But Aosorath has been talking to her and he says she's okay too. I can check on her for you later." D'cal would be beside himself if his blue were hurt and he wasn't allowed to see him. B'vin seemed to be taking it well though.

B'vin nodded and closed his eyes. If he couldn't be with her, D'cal was the next best thing. "Thank you."

"So how bad is it?" The greenrider seemed to be taking it fairly well, but it was hard to tell under all the bandages.

He didn't open his eyes, "It's into the muscle again. They stitched it up but they won't know how much permanent damage until it heals."

"Shards, B'vin," D'cal said with a sad shake of his head. He knew what that would mean - sevendays if not months of excruciating rehabilitation. The greenrider had been through it all before, and it had been painful for his friend to watch.

"It's not that bad, just my thigh this time." Last time it had been half his side. "Serenth though, I think she hurt her wing because of me."

"Well, no, I think it was because of the Thread," D'cal corrected him gently. He knew how B'vin loved to take more on himself than he was responsible for.

B'vin shook his head, there were tears in his eyes and he was afraid if he opened them they'd spill out. "She hurt her wing when we landed. Thread got through the straps on the left side and I was flopping around all over. She didn't want me to fall off when she landed so she did it funny and did something to her wing."

"The Thread ate through the strap. You did nothing wrong and she did what she had to do. It's not your fault."

"But what if it's really messed up?" he cried, "I can't see it, and nobody has come and told me anything!"

The bluerider was not about to let him slip into self-pity. "She's fine. If there was a serious problem they would have come and told you by now. Take it as a good sign. Besides, she tells Aosorath she's fine and I'll check on her later anyway."

"Can you check on her now? Just so I know for sure?" He didn't know if he could handle D'cal here any more, he didn't think he was hiding the tears very well and he wanted to be alone.

D'cal's face grew more understanding. He supposed nothing would really comfort him either if he really thought Aosorath was hurt. "All right. But you need to rest while I'm gone and not panic. You have a way of blowing things out of proportion and scaring yourself."

B'vin gave a thin smile. "Yes, healer D'cal."
