Description: Ishek invites Bridinar to negotiate closer alliances between Onyx Peak and Garnet Valley. But is everyone sure what the other means?
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 13, day 11 of Turn 4
Ishek read over his note to the holder of Onyx Peak. He hoped he'd managed to get his point across without being too blatant, or sounding like he was planning a livestock exchange. Despite Kiomo's reassurances that the holder would be delighted, he couldn't help but worry.
"Bridinar,
I greatly enjoyed my recent visit to Onyx Peak Hold. Your hospitality was exceptional. I find myself considering how best to strengthen the ties between Onyx Peak and Garnet Valley. I feel that both of our holds would benefit. We both have things that could benefit the other hold. In addition..."
And here there was a few splatters of ink, as Ishek had held the pen there for some time, considering his words, before realizing how the ink was spreading.
"In addition to the material benefits for a closer tie, there might be some personal ones. I wish to know your thoughts on the matter of a closer alliance.
Ishek"
There. The Lord Warder hoped that it implied enough without sounding too focused on trade benefits. He tied the letter to Yimas' leg, pictured the holder, and sent the brown firelizard off with strict instruction to find the holder and to wait for a reply.

Bridnar was rather surprised to receive the letter and even more surprised when he read the contents. On the heals of the mild shock was pleasure. Well well! What could this mean for the hold? The man took up his pen and began to write his own note in return,
"Lord Ishek,
"It pleases me that you enjoyed your stay here. It was an honour and a privilege to have you visit our humble holding. I would indeed be most open to negotiations of a closer alliance. Would you, per chance, wish me to come and we can discuss any ideas you have in mind in person?
Bridinar"
The holder glanced over the note once more before attaching it to the brown and sending him back on his way.

Ishek smiled as he took the note from Yimas and gave him a spiced meatroll as a treat. He wondered what Bridinar was expecting from an in person meeting. He hoped that this meant negotiations were going well. He began to pen his reply.
"Bridinar,
I believe an in person meeting would be best. Would the beginning of next sevenday work for you, or shall we find another time? I promise to devote at least a day to negotiations- I believe alliances are important matters and should not be rushed.
Oh, and Briata and any other member of your family is quite welcome to come along. There is no reason why a business visit cannot be a social one, and I do enjoy spending time with the families of my holders. We can have a more private dinner.
Ishek"
He sent the note back.

Well, Bridinar would have most likely brought his daughter along anyway, but he was glad to see that Ishek didn't mind her coming. She was a sweet girl, she was. The holder nodded, glancing toward the door as he heard scuffling outside. Yet, nothing demanded his attention so he went ahead and quickly wrote another reply.
"Lord Ishek,
The beginning of the next sevenday will be just fine. I will be happy to meet with you then. Briata will be glad to see Garnet Valley as well. She does enjoy the trips there. I shall let you know as soon as we have arrived.
Bridinar"
Perhaps a bit short, but Bridinar was never very good with the written word. He gave a treat to the firelizard just before sending him back with the reply.
****
"Bridinar,
I look forward to this meeting. Please treat this as an informal meeting to broach possible areas of alliances. You don't need to bring large amounts of records to review specifics just yet if you don't want to. I look forward to seeing you and Briata next sevenday.
Ishek"
He tied the note to the brown's leg. When Yimas cheeped in indignation, Ishek scratched the firelizard's head knobs. "One more and then I'll leave you alone." he promised.
The brown took to the air and went /between/.

Bridinar read the last and nodded. He sent off a quick reply stating that he too was looking forward to the meeting. This was good, very good. It could mean a great many things for Onyx Peak. It was encouraging at the very least. Bridinar watched the firelizard launch into the air then disappear /between/. Yes. Very good indeed.
