B'ram had found the perfect bottle of wine. He was very proud of that fact. A nice icewine, rare down in the South since the Vintner Hall's cellars had been destroyed. It was slightly extravagant, but it was appropriate. One should celebrate their lovers birthingday in style, even if it was a lover you could barely talk to. It was much grander than the bottle he had bought to share with Eleada that night. Looking into the greenrider's smiling eyes, it shamed him to think that Trae would be treated to such a fine vintage while he had only picked out a bottle for Eleada as an after thought.
"More wine?" he asked, hiding his guilt behind attentiveness.
"Certainly." She smiled at him, completely relaxed. It was wonderful not having to be on edge about a man for once, to be aware of his proximity and fearing going too far. And to have someone at night... not every night of course. She didn't trust her luck enough for that. But often enough that she was getting real sleep again, and the pleasure of waking in his arms after a glorious night was worth all the tea on Pern.
"What are you smiling at?" he asked, narrowing his eyes in mock accusation as he re-filled her glass.
"You." She said simply with a lazy smile, lifting her glass and sipping the brilliant wine, her eyes sparkling.
Her answer both made him grin boyishly and think of the fact that he was the biggest wherry's ass on Pern to be sitting next to her and still thinking of Trae. "Are you thinking of my finer points?"
Swiftly, she leaned in and kissed him, a light grazing of her lips along his cheek. "Does it matter?" She purred into his ear, and then settled herself comfortably against his side, smiling to herself.
"Well, it certainly would be nice." Even if he was thinking of someone else. **B'ram, you're such a wherry's ass!** he silently berated himself, even as he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer. "Then I am." She told him contentedly, nuzzling his neck and laying a soft kiss behind his ear. "I'm thinking about all your finer points. Including," she held up her glass to admire the liquid inside. "Your taste in wine."
"It's improving, isn't it." He turned his head to brush his lips against her forehead. B'ram loved the way they could settle into cuddling and easy banter. It was so relaxing and... natural. He and Trae could never be this way. As much as he wanted her, their loving was reserved only for when the glows were turned down low.
"It is." She agreed, amused. She knew perfectly well that he preferred stronger wines than she did, but he was developing a knack for picking just the right ones that they both would like. She drained her glass, letting the fine liquid swirl around her tongue for a moment before setting the glass on the table, and snuggled closer. It felt so right to have him there, to have his arm wrapped around her. "But that's only one of your finer points."
"Oh?" he murmured, burying his nose in her hair. "What are my other fine points, hmm?"
"Hmm." She pretended to consider the idea, her eyes sparkling as she idly traced the buttons on his shirt. "I don't know. Red hair and freckles has never really been my type..."
"That certainly doesn't sound like my _finer_ points," he chuckled softly. She smelled like scented sweet sand. He liked it.
She looked up at him, a sly grin on her face. "Oh, but they are." She kissed him softly in the hallow of his neck. "You make them look wonderful."
A smile graced his lips as he linked his fingers with hers, but it was a guilty one. **You wouldn't think I was half so wonderful if you knew...** "I haven't liked a woman as much as I like you in a long time. I mean that, Eleada," he said softly, resting his head against hers. And he really did. Trae was... not the same. Shards, how he wished Eleada could be enough. But he just... needed Trae too...
"I know." She whispered contentedly, closing her eyes for a moment. "And I haven't liked someone as much as you in forever, B'ram. So we're perfect together." She opened her eyes and turned her head just enough to lay a delicate kiss on his chin. "Shall I stay tonight?" he asked as he rubbed his nose against hers. Trae didn't seem to be expecting him. At least, not tonight.
"I'd like that." She said softly, the start of a gleam in her eyes as she nipped lightly at his nose.
B'ram gave into temptation and kissed her softly, teasingly. He resolved to forget about Trae for the rest of the evening. After all, he might need the goldrider, but there were some needs he was finding only Eleada could fill.
Eleada treasured the kiss, the soft pressure of his lips teasing her interest. On a whim, she slid from her position under his arm to straddle his lap. She returned the kiss, gently teasing him back as she let it linger lovingly, forming her body against his. The brownrider smiled as he pulled back slightly, his fingers wrapping around her hips. "Well, I think I might have to take another look at the label on that bottle. Whatever that wine was, I think I ought to buy more."
Eleada chuckled throatily, twining her arms around his neck. "I think it's called 'a happy greenrider,' wouldn't you?" She leaned her forehead against his, gazing into his eyes before kissing him again.
B'ram smiled against her lips and finally leaned back to smile up at her. Shards it was so nice to feel free to _play_ with a lover! "Happy greenriders are my favorite intoxicant."
"And I'm sure you can guess mine." She challenged with a returning smile, before leaning forward and nibbling on his ear as she whispered "Since 'guessing' is one of your best points."
