He paused. **Ready?**
}:Of course.:{ Tobereth's voice held excitement. She loved going on Search.
"Are you ready? Any questions?" he asked the young men and women lined up. It was better to move slowly than to rush and scare anyone.
Sorsha saw several of the girls and boys move closer to each other as Tobereth approached. "Don't be scared, it doesn't hurt. I was Searched by this very dragon, and she is very nice." As she watched the green sway her head between the ones barely older than children and the men and women who were older than her, she took Railen's hand and gave it a squeeze.
G'len smiled in thanks to Sorsha for her help. **Anyone?** he asked his green.
After a few moments the green drew back from the line. }:The one from before and another.:{ "Well, Sorsha. As you know, you're still eligible to come to the Weyr. There's a clutch on the Sands now."
Railen glanced over at Sorsha. He was giving her one more chance, if she said she wanted to go, he wouldn't fight her.
Sorsha smiled, "Thank you for the reminder G'len, but I'm happy here with Railen. I'm sure you'll Search out many more eager than me to fly a fighting dragon."
G'len had expected that response, but he still wondered at the fast courtship. He walked a couple of steps to stand in front of a young girl. "And what's your name?"
"L...Lenlee." The young woman's eyes widened as the dragonrider approached. She glanced over at Sorsha, not quite certain.
She nodded and gave the girl an encouraging smile. She peeked a glance at Railen, but she didn't think he understood what was happening. "Tobereth _likes_ her."
"That's right, Lenlee," the greenrider said. "You've been Searched." Now it would be interesting to see her reaction. In his Turns of going on Search he had had newly Searched young women kiss him in joy, yell in anger, or run away as if they expected him to drag them forcibly to the Weyr.
"Oh!" Lenlee looked between the dragonrider, Sorsha, and Railen. Her brother had a rather surprised expression upon his face, one that probably matched her own. "Me?" She asked, turning once more to G'len. "Are you sure?"
G'len felt his lifemate's amusement. "Tobereth is quite sure."
"Does she have to decide now?" Karai spoke quickly, the pride of having one of the hold Searched was quickly turning into motherly fear. "She's just turned fourteen, and it's such a big decision."
"Of course not," G'len replied gently. She must be the mother. "The clutch has a few sevendays yet before it will hatch." Then, returning his attention to Lenlee, "I know this is a big decision. Luckily, you have Sorsha here who knows just what being a Candidate is like. And, both she and I would be happy to answer all of your questions."
"Yes sir." Lenlee had to admit that the idea was intriguing. Sorsha had been a candidate too, so why not her? But was it something she truly wanted to do? The young girl wasn't sure. She was glad she didn't have to decide right away. "Thank you sir."
Railen moved over to place a gentle hand upon his sister's shoulder. "Are there any others, Dragonrider G'len?" He asked politely.
**You're sure that's it?** G'len asked his green.
}:I'm always sure:{ she replied serenely.
"That's all," he told them, hoping no one was very disappointed.
Sorsha let go of Railen's hand and took a couple steps towards the greenrider as people started talking and walking away. "Can you stay for awhile and visit or do you have to keep going?" She knew his time was short and he probably had a dozen other holds to go to today, but it would be nice to catch up.
G'len pulled her into a quick hug. "I only have a minute. But," he lowered his voice, "you're sure you want to stay here?" She really did seem happy, but maybe with no one else listening she would change her mind about remaining at the hold.
The dreams she'd been having lately of hatchings and dragons flashed quickly before her eyes, but she blinked them away as she gave G'len a quick peck on the cheek. "I'm sure I want to marry Railen, and that means staying here. You never know, you might be back in fifteen turns or so Searching out _our_ children."
Well, that was a strange thought, but her confidence made him feel better. "Let me know if you both ever want to come to the Weyr, maybe to watch a Hatching," he offered.
"Maybe Lenlee's." Sorsha suggested with a smile. She thought that the girl would be adventurous enough to try, but she wasn't so sure if her family would think it a good idea.
"That would be nice." That is, if Lenlee chose to be a Candidate. "Either way, congratulations on the upcoming wedding." G'len was happy for her, even though that was never a life he would choose for himself.
"Sorsha?" Railen called out, more to get her attention than anything. He smiled at her, though he couldn't help but be a bit worried that the dragonrider might try to convince her not to stay. Of course, if she truly wished to go, he wouldn't deny her, but he really hoped she wouldn't make such a choice.
Sorsha gave a quick wave then turned back to G'len. "Well if you can't stay then I'd better go, Lenlee's going to need the support. Good luck on the rest of your Search."
"Thank you. Maybe I'll see you soon, and Lenlee sooner." G'len deftly mounted Tobereth and waved to everyone. **Ready?**
}:Of course. Let's go.:{ After making sure everyone was out of the way, the green took flight, then blinked /between/.
