Date: month 13, day 7 of Turn 4
U'das scratched his lifemate's eyeridges when he waited for the Headwoman.
"What it is in women, when you always have to wait for them?" he
wondered absently. Zackariath was set for passanger-straps for two.
Soliera was fussing with her carisak, running through her mind what kind
of things she should pack for her great-grandchildren. Her
granddaughter had just had a little boy, and she had another one that had
just turned 3 turns.
But she never went to see them, and they never came to see her, or at
least very often. But she had persuaded U'das to take her on Zack, and
she was slightly worried about the visit. She hadn't seen any of her
family since her first great-grand-child was born.
But it was time, and past time.
It occurred to her a little bit later that U'das and Zack would be
waiting, and she shook her head at her foolishness. She was way too old
for that sort of behavior!
A comb was run through her dark brown tresses, and she smiled. She
supposed she looked presentable.
She headed out toward where Zack would be waiting - but not hurrying.
}: She comes, :{ Zack's sharp dragon senses spotted her first.
"Finally," U'das grumbled but his face broke in to a smile.
Sol's slow, rich smile was inviting and teasing all at once. "I hope you
weren't waiting long, handsome." And then she patted Zack!
Laughing aloud now, the mischief laden brown eyes finally took in
U'das. "Nor you, U'das." He would probably dump her off Zack for that,
but it was too fun to resist. U'das had given her back so much fun...
and she enjoyed life quite a bit already.
"I'm used to waiting for women by now," The bronze rider replied.
"Need a boost up?"
With a roll of her eyes, she did take his offer of assistance. "My bones
are a bit aged to be hopping on and off bronze dragons without a bit of
help."
U'das smiled and offered her his hand. "Well, I'm not too old to lift you
up yet," he said.
She enjoyed his strength as he helped her up onto Zack and
kissed his cheek in thanks as she settled on the bronze dragon's back. As
long as she'd lived in a Weyr, it was far from her first dragon ride, but
U'das didn't take her that often. She was going to enjoy this!
"No, I wouldn't say you were too old for .. anything..." She said
archly, smiling at him.
U'das smiled back and busied himself with attaching the straps.
"Anybody ever told you that you're a naughty lady" he asked while
giving Zack a signal to lift off.
"Often, but not nearly so much as lately!" She held on to him tighter
than necessary, and prepared for the cold of /between/.
U'das already had the vision of where they were to go, and they
appeared a short time later.
Her granddaughter, at least one of them, came pouring out as the big
bronze came into view. A small 3 turn old was attached to her skirt, and
she carried a small baby in her arms. The medium sized cothold was a busy
place, and other people soon came into view with the
interest a visiting dragon always brought.
They landed, and she breathed in a great sigh. It had been far too long.
"While we are here, I'll go to see my own daughter and grand-daughters
too," U'das said when he opened the straps. He slid down first and helped
her down.
She leaned up to kiss him thankfully, even as her granddaugher rushed up
to hug her. Pleased, Sol wrapped an arm around her, and then
nodded to U'das. "That sounds good, love. Good use of our visiting time."

It had been a long, tiring, but fulfilling day. Sol leaned
gratefully against U'das' side. They were back at River Bluff, in his
weyr. "Did you enjoy the day, U'das? It was so wonderful to see them
all.."
"Yes, I did. I don't go there often enough," he replied and bent to kiss her.
"I'll say, love. I am so glad we went..." Sol returned the kiss with
passion burned on a low heat all day. They had been with each
other's family's, enjoying one another's company, and simply sharing their
joy in one another with other people close to them. It had been a treat,
a day such as she had not experienced in more turns than she could
remember.
"Not too tired, are you, my bronzerider?"
"No, although my graddaughters did their best to wore me down!" U'das
replied with a laughter and passion in his voice.
"I'm glad they didn't succeed." She grinned and tugged his hand,
pulling him toward his bed. "But I think its my turn now; lets see if I
can't wear you out."
