Zathris

Zathris

"Pardon me, ma'am." Zathris came to a stop a couple of feet away from the lady who he had seen wandering the halls. She looked as if she was lost, confusion rampant upon her face. Of course, the assistant steward couldn't just walk on by. "Is there something I can do to help you?

Isily looked over and gave a sardonic smile to the fellow, noticing that
he wasn't a technician like herself. "Not unless you can see through
these walls."

"That, I fear, is not one of my abilities." Zathris stated with a
chuckle. "But I might be able to guide you around them. Are you
looking for someone?"

"Hmm, no. I'm looking for some _thing_." she mused, eyeing a storage closet door. "A breaker box is supposed to be around here somewhere."

"Ah, that thing." Zathris had seen it before when another technician had worked upon the electricity. Well, not in that particular area, but he at least knew what a breaker box was and where they were usually situated. "They're usually in out of the way places. I think this was done purposefully to keep things more aesthetically pleasing."

She opened the door and saw the large box along one side. "And to keep the curious from causing power outages." She replied with a grin.

"Yes, it wouldn't surprise me if that gave some motivation as well." Zathris followed the girl and peered in after her. "Ah, there it is. My keen sense saves the day again."

Isily grinned as she bent down to open the box, "Yes, I'm sure I'd never have been able to find it without you standing right there in the middle of the cooridor." After a moment she added, "I'm Isily by the way."

"I'm Zathris." The man would have offered his hand, but the woman seemed rather preoccupied with the box. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Isily. I'm afraid I don't remember you." Zathris would think that he would remember her considering that she was a female technician. There were some in the hold, but not enough to keep Zathris from being familiar with their faces. "Are you new to Amber Hills?"

"Sort of," she explained "I transferred here about a month ago."

"Ah, I see." Zathris wasn't the one in charge of crafters so it wasn't surprising he hadn't known. "I hope you are settling in well."

She stood up, nothing looked wrong with the breakers, so now for the tedious work. "Well enough. I hadn't realized how much of an oddity women crafters were here. I mean I _knew_, they'd told us as much, but it's different when you're actually elbow deep ya know?"

"Yes, it is." Zathris could understand that. One could be told time and time again, but being told and experiencing were two totally different things. "I hope no one has given you any trouble."

Isily stood up, letting her muscles stretch a moment after squatting for so long. "Not _trouble_, they just don't know what to think of me I guess. Hard to make friends and all if no one knows what to make of you."

"Well, what do you want people to make of you? From what little conversation we have had you're certainly an intelligent woman. Is there something more you wish people to see?" Zathris cocked an eyebrow as he leaned against the doorframe, watching the technician. He knew that having to deal with such things in the south was indeed difficult - more difficult, he was certain, than he could truly imagine.

"But see, you're not afraid to _talk_ to me, to find out that I'm intelligent." She wagged her finger at him and laughed.

"Should I be?" Zathris queried with a chuckle, then moved from the doorway to get out of the technician's way. "Perhaps there's more reasoning than you're telling me. Maybe I'd best run while I still can."

Isily shrugged, "Run if you want, you'll miss out though. I'm a very fun person." She chuckled to herself as she closed the closet door. "Maybe I should be the one running from you though, you can't be very sane to chat up a female crafter. We have tails like dragons you know."

"Do you now?" Zathris glanced downward and shook his head. "You do a very good job of hiding it. Tell me, can you chew firestone and breathe fire as well?"

"On my mean and nasty days." she admitted with a grin. "Usually I try and keep it in check though."

"I'll try to stay on your good side, then." Zathris playfully took a step back to put more distance between them. "And try to stay out of your reach."

Isily just laughed and shook her head.
