Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 27 of Turn 3
"Karri" she heard her name being called. Looking up, she saw the brown tousled hair of F'lik, beckoning her over. She waved and gave a small shy smile as she approached. F'lik had been eager, as ever, to get to class today, just hoping for this very moment. He'd sat alone so that he would be able to convince Karri to sit with him. Pushing out the chair next to him, he said, "Sit with me?"
"Of course." she said gratefully. He was always so sweet, saving a seat for her so she wouldn't have to sit up front.
"How are you today?" he asked, politely, trying not to gaze at her, as he was so prone to doing.
She let out an audible sigh and smiled, "Good, I actually got to sleep through the night for a change. You?"
"I'm fine. Not as rested as you, though, I guess.
You'll have to watch me and hit me if I start nodding off." He smiled slightly, then amended, "Discreetly, of course."
"Well I'm nothing if not discreet." she said sweetly as she watched the last of the weyrlings enter the room. Thinking her comment could be taken the wrong way, especially here at the weyr, she tried to cover with a joke. "I'm sure a sound kick to the shins will rouse you!"
F'lik's eyes widened a little at her last comment. "It might at that." His cheeks flushed slightly as he briefly allowed his mind to wander across the possibilities. A brief awkward silence followed, and she wished the instructor would get here so class could start. "So, um, did you hear the harpers are having a performance tomorrow night?"
"That's great. Are you going to go listen?" F'lik spoke hopefully, though he knew he had so much to do these days that he hardly even made time to eat.
"I think so, some of the other greenriders are going to try and go after inspections. Do you want to go to?" Karri had really enjoyed the time they had spent together at the hatching feast, and she didn't get to spend enough time with her friends. "I hope I can. I've been so busy..." he trailed off, leaving his sentence hanging. He paused a moment longer, then made up his mind. "I'll be there," he said, much more confidently than he felt.
The instructor walked in and the room quieted. She didn't dare continue talking, so instead she reached out and gave F'lik's hand a quick squeeze before turning her attention to the class.

That night, F'lik still felt her touch on his hand, setting it aglow. Padorath had asked him about this feeling and what it meant, and the poor little bronze had had to settle for, **I'll tell you when you're older.** While Padorath slept deeply, F'lik lay awake long into the night, devising ways to make enough time to get to the harpers' performance. He sighed softly, and rolled over again.
