Description: Teseada catches up with an old friend....
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 8 of Turn 5
It had been a long day. Hides, hides and even more hides. Why had nobody
warned a candidate that impressing Gold would mean many long days spent with
numbers, counting, checking, adding, forecasting... It never seemed to stop.
In Teseada's mind, next time there was a gold egg on the sands she was going
to suggest that any girl who even had an idea of impressing it's hatchling
was going to spend a day with her going over some of the more tedious tithe
figures, at least that way they would be prepared.
Not that she'd change anything. After all, her Impression had led to Onnyth,
and that had to be the best thing by far that had ever happened for her. No
more was she a candidate, she was a goldrider. But a very tired goldrider,
and tempted to be cranky one at that.
So she got back to her weyr, and settled back on the couch, intending to
have a lazy candlemark or so, followed by a bath, then maybe, just maybe she
might feel up to going to the dining cavern to grab some food.
That peace and quiet she craved wasn't to be. No sooner had she settled
down, kicked her shoes of and got comfortable then there was a knock at the
door. "Who is it?" she called out before scrambling to her feet. There was
no reply, well no spoken reply, just another knock at the door.
"This better be good," she said to herself.
"Surprise!" said a young man with brownrider knots as she opened the door.
"R'saw!" A smile crossed her face. "What brings you here?"
R'saw had been plain Relasaw when she first met him, they'd been apprenticed
to the technicians together, but he'd never let her forget that he had a
couple of turns more experience. He'd become a senior apprentice when he'd
taken his place on the sands and left with a lovely little brown hatchling
by his side. Shortly after graduation, they'd taken a post at Far Island
Weyr.
"I had to drop a message off here and wait for a reply, so I thought I stop
by and see my favourite technician and goldrider."
"Flattery will get you nowhere," she said stepping back to allow him in.
"What about these?" He pulled a small packet out of his belt pouch. "I have
fudge," he said in a teasing manner waving the bag close by her face. "You
always liked it in the past."
"And I still do," that got him a smile. "Why don't you sit down, and I'll
see if I have any thing to drink to go with it. And then you can tell me
about Urgounth and how popular he is with the ladies over there."
"Well," began R'saw. "There is one."
"Only one? I was so sure there would be hundreds of women after a handsome
brownrider like you." Teseda had found a skin of wine and a couple of mugs
and come to sat down next to the brownrider on the couch. "Who could resist
the pair of you?"
}:She did,:{ his brown reminded him.
**Not now,** he told Urgounth.
"He chased a green a few months, well not for the first time. I'd seen
rather a lot of her rider before hand, so I guess that helped. We've been
together pretty much since then. She's pretty, and smart." **Like you
are,** he told himself.
"I see, but she can't be that smart if she chose you," Teseada grinned as
she helped herself to a piece of the fudge.
"That was uncalled for, Garya is a wingthird."
"Booksmart then."
"And she's got Journeyman knots as a dragonhealer too. That's what first
brought us into contact, Urgounth picked up a wing strain in drills and she
told me off for letting him over exert himself. I um... told her what I
thought of that and ended up taking her to dinner to apologise."
"I see, and your apology was good?"
"Very good, enough that she eventually gave in and persuaded her green to
let Urgounth win her flight."
}:Return message is here,:{ interrupted said dragon.
"I, Teseada I have to go now, that message is ready." He got to his feet.
"Can I visit again?"
"You know you can, in fact I insist you do, it's been way too long." She got
to her feet too, "I'll see you out. Don't leave it this long next time."
"I won't," he said.
