Description: Sarban and Corowal go over their schedule for the next day's tour of the holding.
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 2, day 15 of Turn 5
It had been a sevenday since Corowal had wed. Emerald Falls had a Lady Holder. Sarban knew Felyna would be working more with Vanea than him, but he was still curious about her and the way she did things. Sitting in his office, he rearranged things to his satisfaction before looking at the day's itinerary.
Tomorrow, they were supposed to ride out to the outlying minor holds. Today, though, he needed to finish up his assignments to his understewards so that he could feel good about when he was gone. Humming an old bawdy sea tune under his breath, he prepared to write out his orders.
Corowal peeked his head in. He was just coming from his practice session outside. "Nice tune," he grinned.
Sarban's head came up and he grinned sheepishly for a moment. "Aye good day then. Ready to finalize tomorrow's schedule?" He shuffled his hides around to find the right one. "Or shall we eat first?" His eyebrow rose in question as he took in Corowal's sweaty body.
"I think I need to wash before eating," Corowal said with a grin.
"Then the schedule it is.." Sarban didn't care if Corowal sat in his chair while he was sweaty. He'd just wipe the thing down later. He tossed a copy of the hide across the desk.
"Busy as usual," Corowal completed the sentence while scanning through the hide.
"Aye well we'll be riding circuit all day. Of course if any of the holders have any issues, you'll have to mediate." Sarban had already given Vanea and the beastcrafters a list of what they'd need. "I don't foresee anything serious coming up, though." He scratched his cheek, revealing two days' worth of whiskers.
"I wonder, should we have a guard escorting us?" Corowal muttered.
"Aye I'd say so. Two if you want to be safe." Which, knowing some of the terrain might not be such a bad idea.
"I will tell Zandan to assign two men for us. Some of the minor holders don't approve of changes I've done here. Not to mention there's always holdless bandits and wild felines," Corowal said.
"Which changes do you mean?" Sarban was quite curious. Though he'd been dealing with the Emerald Falls holders for quite some time, before he'd become Steward, he hadn't really been privy to what Corowal was doing.
"Oh, the 'don't beat your wife' and listen to your daughter's opinion before marrying her off policies," Corowal said with a wave of his hand.
"Oh right, those. Very visionary if I do say so myself, though I can see why there are some hurt feelings. No matter..once all the oldtimers die off, the new ones won't know any different." He waved one of his hands and rubbed the side of his face. "Anything especially we need to take with us that you planned to give to any of the holders? Seeds..supplies?"
Corowal thought about it for a while. "Aivorn promised one of the runner foals to Green Valley Hold. We might take it with us, since we are going there enroute."
"Makes perfect sense. Note made. Now, I think we're good. You go bathe and I'm going to eat unless there's anything else you can think of?" Sarban sealed the orders for his understewards before picking them up. He'd deliver them on his way to the Dining Hall.
"No, that's all. See you later, Sarban." Corowal got up to leave.
