K'reyel

K'reyel

It was a rest day, and the Weyrleader intended to take full advantage of
that fact. Which was why he'd got up early and already been down to the
kitchens, returning with a basket packed with tasty treats for later on.
"Mai," he called out softly as he came back to their weyr. "Are you awake?"

Mai was in bed yet, but she did open one eye, then another at the sound of
her weyrmate's voice. "K'reyel? You're up early. And now I am up too..."
She smiled lightly as she half rose in bed, eyeing him. "Feeling good on
this restday are you, love?"

"Yes," he replied watching her. "I thought I'd take advantage of the
restday, and steal you and Mayel away for a few candlemarks."

She stretched like a feline, uncurling all of her muscles in a motion not
necessarily designed to be seductive, but perhaps looking so as her weyrmate
watched her.

"That would be so lovely!" She slipped out of bed and moved toward him to
deliver a kiss for reward, excitement already making her eyes sparkle as she
came awake all at once. "We haven't been anywhere.... well..... since
before I got pregnant, love! It'll be so good to just go away for a bit, and
forget.... "

Practicality returned a moment later as she considered Mayel. "Will we go
/between/? I'm not sure Mayel is ready for that, though we could bundle him
up really,r eally well. All of our checkups with the Healers are going
very well, they say. "

"We can fly straight, there's a little beach I know that would take a
candlemark to get to on foot, but with Erdenth only a few minutes. It's nice
and secluded, with some shady spots too, perfect for a little one."

"And for us too, hmm?" Her eyes danced with happiness. "He'll take a nap
sometime later too..." She grinned, and then stepped away from him to pack a
little bag. "It sounds perfect, love. We really need to spend some
together, as a family." She paused in the packing, glancing back to him.

"What about the girls? do you want to make it a family day?"

He considered that for a moment or two. "Would you mind if they came too?"

She looked at him, meeting his eyes for a long moment. Some of the
happiness flickered to something else briefly, then she smiled. "They're
part of your family... and mine... too, hmm? I think they would love to
spend some time with Mayel, don't you?"

"I'm sure they can take him for a long walk and give us some privacy," he
suggested.

The smile turned mildly wicked. "Lets get started, then, love. Privacy on
a beach somewhere sounds like a perfect day."
She finished packing and went out to Mayel's bed. Their young son was just
waking up, blinking sleepy eyes.
"Do we need to pack anything special for him?"

"I don't think so, love. " She answered, scooping up Mayel in her arms and
cooing softly to him as he tried to smile in response. "Just the usual
things. I can feed him.. anywhere..." She winked. "And we'll just make
sure we bring things to keep the sun from being too hot for him and a few
changes of clothes. It should be a nice outing, for all of us." She
rejoined K'reyel and offered him his son for good morning cuddles.

"He's getting heavy," commented the Weyrleader as he settled his son in his
arms. "And big and strong."
Mai smiled indulgently at the two men in her life. "Just like his father!"
A few moments passed and she finally took him back. "Lets go, hmm? Im ready
for a day at the beach with my family."

Tero began to chrip as the activity woke him, too, and Mai laughed. It
seemed even her flit wanted a day off!
