"Who wants to go swimming?" Lorini fairly bounced as she asked the question, her face lit with a grin. She glanced around the room which held only four candidates. The others were probably on their way back from their chores. They had a good couple of hours before lights out. The darkness of the evening wouldn't keep Lorini from having some fun, though. "Anyone?"

"I will," Lhara said, closing the book she had been leafing through with an audible thump. "Us L-Candidates have to stick together." She and Lorini were often paired off for classes or chores during the time they were in preparation for Impression since the Weyrlingstaff seemed to work off lists that were in alphabetical order. "What about you Labarr? Coming to do some bonding activities with your fellow Candidates, just the way they're always reminding you to?"

"Come on Labarr." Lorini piped up in encouragement. "You know you want to."

"You can't resist two beautiful women, can you?" Lhara added. "Especially two who can wheedle away at you for candlemarks until you give in." Labarr was the oldest of the three of them - well adult enough in Lhara's opinion to not need the lessons of Candidacy repeated over and over again, and if they were lucky would consider himself due a break.

He laughed. They knew he could never resist a _single_ beautiful woman, let alone _two_. Also, the promise of 'bonding' piqued his interest, but he knew she hadn't meant it in the funniest possible way. "I'm game; but I'm without a suit so prepare to lust after me all evening."

"Well I'm going to get mine," Lhara said with a wide smile for the older Candidate, "So you'll just have to use your _vivid_ imagination when it comes to lusting after me."

"Who needs a suit?" Lorini giggled. "Lhara, will you grab some towels while you're getting yours?"

"No problem. I'll catch you up."

Lhara ducked into the barracks alongside the classrooms and jogged along to her bedspace for her swim suit. Like many weyrbred Candidates she didn't spend her entire life 'living in' barracks, just returned there when there was a Hatching in if the offing. She had a real life outside Candidacy which, going by her family's mixed successes at Impression, was probably a good thing.

Journeymen and women like Labarr didn't even spend the time she did living in but he did attend classes and Lhara looked forward to those times when the three of them got together again. It was a friendship that didn't really exist when they weren't brought together in the preparations for a Hatching, but it was a good friendship for all its intermittent nature.

Adding towels from the press beside the bathing room she left the barracks and headed down the river path toward the sea and River Bluff's best swimming beach.

"Water's warm!" Labarr called with a wave as he spotted Lhara heading their way. He and Lorini had drifted a ways out and he wasn't sure if she'd seen them.

"Come on in!" Lorini dived under the water and came up a little closer to shore. "Slow poke!"

Lhara waved at the pair of them and then took a moment to change out of her clothes and into her swim suit. As she waded into the water she raised her hands to braid her red-gold hair as tightly as possible before tying the tail of the braid off again. A few moments work now would save her a candlemark or more untangling her hair later.

When her hair was done and the water was up to her thighs she made a shallow dive and started swimming out to her friends.

"Now what's the point in swimwear if you're going to change out on the beach where all can see? I know you're not shy." Labarr teased. She'd been too far away for him to enjoy the view, not that he hadn't seen her naked before in the baths.

"I'm modest," Lhara said loftily. "I wouldn't go for a walk naked, or do my day's work that way, either. It's not appropriate." It was also the attitudes she had been raised with. "And I'm not a shocking exhibitionist like some people I could name."

"Hey, I'm not an exhibitionist!" Lorini heartily splashed Lhara a couple of times. "You're just hidebound, that's all!"

"I'll join you for a naked walk if you want." Labarr offered helpfully, his face full of innocence.

"Not when I'm trying to make a point." Lorini turned her splashing on Labarr that time, then laughed and dove before he could return the favour. A moment later, she came up a bit away from her friends. "Can't catch me!"

"Said with all the seriousness of a green taking off for her mating flight," Lhara said with a grin for Labarr before swimming off after Lorini. They were all weyrbred at River Bluff - had all grown up swimming as easily as walking.

"Hah!" Lorini turned and dove under the water as Lhara began to make her way toward her. She started off in one direction, then darted to the side, changing course without warning.

When Lhara managed to tag her friend's foot she ducked under the water and swam toward the beach.

"Done already?" Labarr pouted. He could watch those two wrestle in the water till dark.

"Oh no you don't!" Lorini managed as she came up to the surface for air. She dived back down and streaked through the water after Lhara, seemingly ignoring Labarr.

It wasn't hard to guess Lorini's intentions and Lhara splashed around to distract the third member of their party.

"Hey Hey!" Labarr cried as he suddenly found himself between the two splashing girls. "I'm just an aroused observer here, not a participant!"

Lorini stopped chasing after Lhara and grinned. "Is that so? We must do something about that!" Without apology, the girl began to splash Labarr exuberantly, water cascading over him.

"Can you managed to be aroused and drowned at the same time?" Lhara asked as she laughed and splashed.

Labarr ducked under the water and pulled Lorini's legs out from under her then popped back up besides Lhara. He made a show of checking himself over and grinned. "Why it appears that I most certainly can! That's good to know."

"You beast!" Lorini sputtered once she came back above water. Her attempt at a harsh tone was betrayed by her laughter. "Just wait til I get my hands on you!"

"Ooooh. I like the sound of that!" Labarr replied, elated at the prospect. "I don't mind if Lhara watches if you don't."

"Lhara minds," the younger girl said, "In case there was any likelihood of his dreams coming true."

"Too bad, you're going to miss out on all the fun." Lorini swam a little closer to Labarr only to pound him with more water. "Besides, I think it would be more comfortable _out_ of the water rather than in...though in could be interesting too."

"Eww. This is everybody's water. You keep it clean!"

Labarr laughed and pushed himself towards the shore. "We can come back later when Lhara's not around if you feel like being experimental."

"I wouldn't be opposed to that." Lorini didn't bother to lower her voice. Lhara was acting like a holdbred! Silly girl.

"I can be not-around now if you'd like," Lhara offered.

Labarr looked over at Lorini, "It's up to you, ladies choice and all that."

"Let's finish our swim." Lorini suggested. She didn't want to leave Lhara out. She moved closer to Labarr and lowered her voice so Lhara couldn't hear her. "We'll have plenty of time after." Then she swam on and got closer to Lhara, only to chuck water at the girl.
