Description: G'nir introduces himself to the Weyrwoman's second.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 17 of Turn 5
The young goldrider had just deposited the pile of hides on the Weyrwoman's desk as there was a knock on the door. "The Weyrwoman's not here right now," called Teseada, "She's with her dragon."
"What a bad timing I have," G'nir sighed and looked in. He saw a young woman, she was also wearing goldrider's knots. "You would be the Second then?"
"Indeed I am bronzerider," she said after a quick glance at his knots. "Teseada of gold Onnyth. Are you the new transfer? We've been expecting you."
"Yes, I am, I'm G'nir. In my case you can say that I'm an old transfer coming back, since Nirreth and I Impressed here, and spent most of our career here," G'nir replied.
"Then maybe it should be welcome home," said Teseada with a smile as she offered her hand. "I was born here and Onnyth found me on the very sands she will soon lay her clutch on."
"Well met, my lady," G'nir said with a bow, and taking her hand, kissed the back of it.
She flushed a little at the unexpected courtesy. That sort of thing was perhaps due to one of the blood, not someone who was not that long ago a mere weyrbrat. "Do you have family here?" she asked.
"Unfortunately no. My family lives either in Hold or in another Weyr," G'nir replied.
"My mother is a cook here, so I can vouch for the food," she paused for a moment. "My father is a rider, D'nev of blue Shoglenth and I have a brother who is a weyrling soon to graduate. His bronze hatched from Onnyth's first clutch."
"D'nev, that name sounds familiar," G'nir gave a thoughtful pause. "Shells, you must have been born about same time when Nirreth broke his shell. D'nev sometimes worked with weyrlings back them and I remember him boasting about his baby girl."
"I think he might have done, but that was a good few turns ago."
"He must still be proud of you," G'nir remarked, bit puzzled. She didn't seem to be happy talking about her father.
"He says so," she said non-committally. "My mother is forever telling the kitchens what I am up to though."
"That is the nature of the mothers," G'nir said, small smile touching his lips. He was thinking of his own, she could talk hours about her grandchildren!
"Do you have children of your own?"
"Two, a boy and a girl," G'nir replied. He studied her with his light-grey, smoke-coloured eyes. She was so young. He could easily talk her off from her feet and in to his bed. He was handsome and courteous. But was it worth it? He had slept with many Goldriders and it hadn't helped Nirreth at all. She was perhaps bit too young for his tastes.
"Maybe one day your Nirreth will sire the eggs they Impress from."
"I do hope so," G'nir said and meant it.
"Anyway, I have my own hidework to get back to," there was a note of regret in her voice. "It breeds if I leave it, and as we'll be grounded soon enough it'll all start falling to me."
"Right, I shall stop disturbing you then. It was pleasure to meet you," G'nir said. He would introduce himself to the Weyrwoman later.
"And you bronzerider."
