Description: Traelyn meets with Jyramikah
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 5 of Turn 3

Jyramikah decided that she should make the acquantance of the new Weyrwoman. **Ikola, can you ask Nyith if her rider is busy?** she inquiried as she hung up the riding straps that she had finished oiling.

}:I can.:{ the gold answered.

**Thanks.**

}:Nyith, is your rider busy? Jyramikah would like to meet with her.:{ It took a moment for Nyith to answer. }:Trae says that she's been wanting to meet with your rider. She says that if your rider could come up to our weyr, she'll call down for some refreshments.:{ }:She shall be there shortly.:{ Ikoladoith replied after relaying the message to her rider. Her duty as messenger finished, the gold returned to sunbathing on her ledge.

Jyramikah chuckled as she headed towards the Weyrwoman's weyr. It was a place she was rather familair with. She had spent a lot of time there with Brisis and then occassionally with Kalina. She knocked and then waited for an answer.

"Come in!" Traelyn called as she shoved some boxes out of the way, trying to clear a pathway for the Weyrwoman Second.

"Is there anything that you need?" she asked with a smile as she glanced about the partially unpacked weyr. She had about this much stuff when she had transferred with all the children's things included. It would definitely not be fun to move again especially since she had grown quite fond of Dolphin Cove.

"Not at the moment, no. But thank you just the same," Trae smiled, coming over to shake Jyramikah's hand. "It's good to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too. If you find that you need something, do let me know and I can have it brought up. Had you been at Dragonsfall long?" Jyra asked curiously. She had never been anywhere other than River Bluff Weyr before transferring to Dolphin Cove.

Traelyn looked at the other woman thoughtfully. She didn't sense that she held any contempt for her at all. Nor...jealousy. "Only for about two months," she replied, gesturing for her to follow her to the couch - the only thing not littered in clothes, papers and small boxes. "Would you like some wine? I have a couple bottles that I brought over from Dragonsfall..."

"Such a short time, but perhaps you'll find Dolphin Cove to be more to your liking. Wine sounds good, especially if it hails from Dragonsfall what with them being so close to the Vinter Hall." she replied following Traelyn to the couch.

"Well, the weather certainly is more pleasant here than at Dragonsfall,"
Trae smiled after she had retrieved two glasses and a bottle. Handing Jyra a glass, she poured her some. "This wine comes from my friend, N'klar. He used to be a vintner before he Impressed, so this is the good stuff," she grinned.

"Ooh, those are the best kind of friends to have."

"Oh definitely," Trae laughed as she settled next to her on the sofa.
"It's always nice to have friends who have convenient connections."

"Connections are always nice, you never know when it might come in handy.
Ikoladith loves to flirt with the males and occassionally I get to talk to their riders. I've met most of my friends that way. It's so difficult to get close to anyone as most are either after the benefits of my status or afraid of it." Jyramikah said as she took a sip of the wine.

"I think that's part of what really sets the women who ride the queens apart from everyone else... It's too bad it has to be like that most of the time." Personally, Traelyn had only encountered a few men like that during her Turns at Far Island, but she had a feeling that that was going to change now that she held the rank of Weyrwoman...

"I'd love to actually have someone who was truly interested in me and not the color of the dragon I ride. I have four children and only the baby's father was around after I found out I was pregnant. The other three were flight babies, so I didn't have any other contact with their fathers after the flight." she paused realizing that perhaps Traelyn didn't want to know quite that much about her personal life.

But Trae's expression was curious, and she tipped her head slightly to the side. "Did you want to stay in contant with any of them?"

"I didn't really know them, so I guess the answer would be no. However, I was in love with the baby's father, but he left me again recently for some reason." she said with a sad smile as she thought of the brief time they had enjoyed together before he transfered back to his birth weyr.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Traelyn said softly.

"I've learned that seems to be the life of a goldrider. Unless you're the senior queen, they're not really interested in staying for longer than the flight takes."

That hadn't been necessarily true in Traelyn's case, but she was sorry that it had been for Jyramikah. "Maybe one day, things'll change..."

"Maybe, but I'm sure there are other things to discuss besides men. Do you have any questions about how things work here?"

She smiled. "Nothing specific yet...but I'm sure I'll have so many questions for you in the next couple days or so. If you won't mind me hunting you down to ask?" she asked, her smile turning into a grin.

"Not at all."
