"I plan on going someplace to get really drunk, want to come along?" B'vin hadn't planned on inviting D'ren, but when he'd seen him sitting down for dinner, he'd realized he didn't want to be alone.
D'ren lifted an eyebrow. "Ok ... Is there any reason in particular you want to get drunk?"
"I'll tell you after a few drinks." he promised. He just needed out of the Weyr, away from D'cal. Someplace where he could sit and relax without fear that that bluerider would come walking through the door.
"Alright. We can go as soon as I finish eating." If he was going to be drinking, he needed some food in his stomach.
B'vin had no intention of waiting, especially in a place that was about to get crowded for dinner. "I'm going now, come or not, I don't care."
D'ren sighed. "Are you going to buy me a drink?"
"And whatever else you can stuff in your face if you want it." B'vin replied, turning to leave. He'd waited long enough.
The bronzerider got up to follow him. "Relax, B'vin. I'm coming."
**Do you mind going somewhere with Serenth and her rider? B'vin needs to get away from the Weyr.**
}:I do not mind. I like Serenth,:{ Menanth answered. It wasn't surprising, since he'd caught Serenth before.

"So there I was, minding my own business..." B'vin's voice had started to slur in proportion to the drooping of his eyelids. He'd had more alcohol than he could keep track of at this point, but wasn't done, another ale was held fast in his large fist. "and D'cal comes around the corner spouting off about I can't take a complement!"
"That's what's got you all upset?" D'ren hadn't had as much to drink as B'vin, and he didn't intend on catching up, but he did have that pleasant, fuzzy headed feeling.
"NO! Well yes, but no." B'vin sat up straighter in his stool, he'd felt it starting to give way and still had enough wits about him to know that he didn't want his arse on the floor. "He told me that it was _my_ fault that we weren't friends anymore, can you believe it?"
"Um ... maybe."
B'vin glared at him for a moment then turned away and took another drink. When he turned back, he had apparently forgotten that he was momentarily upset with the bronzerider. "He used to come to me you know. Whenever he lost a flight, he always came to me."
"I thought you didn't like it. I mean, that you like men." D'ren frowned, wondering if his words made sense.
"I _don't_. It was different with D'cal though. He was my friend. "He made me feel like it was okay to feel what I feel." B'vin looked up into the air, counting the 'feels' and making sure he got the words out right.
"So what happened?"
"What happened was that he was an arse." B'vin replied, as if it was obvious. His mug was drained and he motioned to the barman to refill it.
D'ren took a few swallows. This was pretty good stuff. "That's really a very broad statement."
"So was his arseness." B'vin replied, then laughed at what he thought was the funniest thing he'd said all night. "You know what he did... he changed his mind. As long as he was in the need after a flight, it was great, but if _I_ wanted to some other time... nope, nothing, not going to happen. He was as cold as /between/."
D'ren frowned. "So he used you?"
"Worse. He said it was my fault." B'vin replied bitterly before taking a drink of the newly refilled mug. "My father said it was my fault too, before the Weyr, he said to be normal. My fault. D'cal said it was my fault too, I couldn't leave it to just flights. I wanted more and it was my fault."
"It's not your fault." D'ren patted him clumsily on the shoulder.
"And that's why I punched him." B'vin blurted out simply.
He wasn't sure why, but D'ren found that funny. He laughed, in danger of tipping off the stool.
B'vin turned to look at the laughing bronzerider, a scowl on his face. "I'm glad my problems amuse you."
His laughter faded to a chuckle. "You punched him."
"Yes. And he ran off like a little girl too." At that, B'vin started to laugh as well.
Laughing harder than before, D'ren almost spilled his drink.
When they'd both finally laughed themselves out, B'vin sat staring at this mug. He felt miserable; guilty, angry, ashamed, all rolled into one. How could things have gone so wrong with D'cal? He couldn't quite figure it out, but perhaps now was not the best time, he could barely keep his mug in focus. Still, he wasn't alone. D'ren had proven to be a friend to him when he'd needed one, and that meant a lot. "Thanks for coming with me, man."
"No problem." D'ren smiled. "You're actually pretty okay."
"For a greenrider?" B'vin said it with the slur his father would have used.
"For a guy that's usually mopey." He gave B'vin a friendly nudge. D'ren had spent plenty of time being mopey himself, but things were slowly, slowly getting a little better.
B'vin lifted up his near empty mug in toast. "Cheers then!"
"Cheers!" D'ren clinked his mug against B'vin's.
