Breakfast Time!

Writers: Noola, Paula
Date Posted: 29th March 2010

Characters: N'thal, M'shan
Description: N'thal and M'shan answer the call of their dragon's stomachs.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 25 of Turn 5

N'thal felt a sharp pang of hunger that drug him forcefully from the
depths of slumber. For a moment, he was confused, not really
understanding why he was so hungry. He usually wasn't one to eat much
for breakfast, and especially not -this- early. Then he heard a
plaintive, }:I'm the one who's going to starve to death soon!:{

"Oh, you will not," he replied aloud, peering blearily at his blue
dragonet, barely visible in the dim lighting of the barracks. Despite
the early hour, he was not the only one up. Several other weyrlings
were being roused from their beds by hungry lifemates as well.

}:I will! You must hurry, N'thal! I will starve at any moment.:{ The
blue butted him insistently with his nose, urging the young man out of
bed faster. He began making kreeling noises to help get his point
across.

The weyrling laughed, "Alright, alright. I'm up. Let's get you some
food before you wake the entire Weyr." He got out of bed, pulling a
robe on over his night-clohtes and led his blue dragonet out of the
barracks.

M'shan was already there, feeding Juth and yawning until his jaw
threathened to dislocate. "M'rning," he murmured when he spotted
N'thal. "Yours got the same idea, I see."

N'thal yawned in response to M'shan's yawn and nodded. "Nothing else
would have gotten me up at this hour," he grinned, reaching for one of
the sharp butchering knives. Large slabs of herdbeast carcass were
laid out for the weyrlings to cut up for feeding their dragonets and
he chose one and began slicing. "This one is convinced he'll perish at
any moment."

}:Because I will! Talk less and cut faster!:{

"Juth wasn't quite that dramatic," M'shan remarked.

**More!** the little brown demanded, and M'shan sliced more meat to him.

The blue weyrling quickly had a nice-sized pile of meat ready.
"Oreanth loves being dramatic," he said to M'shan before turning his
attention to his own lifemate. "Alright, remember what I said about
chewing. You really won't starve in the time it takes to chew your
food." He handed his blue a piece of meat and watched him carefully as
he chewed it up.

}:More! Hurry!:{ Oreanth butted his hand and held his mouth open for
another piece.

**MORE!** Juth demanded again.

}: Coming, coming, :{ M'shan replied and tossed another piece to the
waiting maw.

"You're bottomless pit," he complained good naturedly.

N'thal grinned at his fellow weyrling before dropping yet another bit
of meat into Oreanth's mouth, "It's amazing how much they can put
away, isn't it?"

"Yes it is. I've grown around dragons, but they were adult dragons,
who ate only once in a sevenday or so," M'shan agreed.

"Won't that be nice?" N'thal laughed.

"Not to mention that they catch and kill their own food," M'shan said
and nodded.

"What do you think of that, Oreanth? One day you'll hunt for your own
food!" He tossed the blue another bit of meat. **Uh uh! Chew that!**
He admonished mentally when the blue made like he would swallow it
whole.

}:I could hunt my own food now, if I wanted! It tastes better when you
feed me though, so I will just let you keep doing it,:{ Oreanth
replied, making N'thal snort in amusement.

"Silly creature," he said aloud. He noticed Oreanth's head bobbing
drowsily. "You're about finished, let's get you cleaned up before you
fall asleep in here." He turned his attention to M'shan, "Yours
finished?"

"Slowing down at least," M'shan looked his lifemate critically. "He is
bit bigger than yours."

"True," N'thal agreed with a smile. "See you around then." He began
leading Oreanth away, laughing when the little blue insisted drowsily
that he could be bigger than Juth, if he wanted to be.

"See you!" M'shan replied cheerfully.
