Cinale

Lymria peeked into the Vintner hall's busy kitchen. "Cinale?" she called, "Are you busy?"

Lymria wasn't sure why she was seeking out the hall cook. They had only met once. But something in the older woman attracted her, made her want to befriend her.

"Always!" Cinale replied, tossing a grin over her shoulder as she stirred the rather large pot of soup in front of her. "But come on in! Lymria, isn't it? You-" she pointed to one of her kitchen girls, "go get Lymria a mug of hot klah. Hurry now, and then you can get back to your duties."

Cinale gestured with a hand for the younger woman hovering near the door to come closer to her. "I never mind visitors when I'm cooking," she smiled.

"Oh, good." Lymria came closer and inhaled the scents of the kitchen. "Aah, what a heavenly smell. What are you cooking?", she asked.

"A nice, _big_ pot of soup." Cinale looked down at it. "Though, it's not really a soup - it's too thick with beans, peppers, little bits of roasted meat... Here. Have a taste and tell me what you think so far." She snagged a spoon from a nearby cart and held it out to Lymria.

Lymria tasted the soup. "It's good. Could be almost called a stew" she remarked. She could cook herself and her specialty was a cooking on open fire.

Cinale nodded thoughtfully as she looked down at her concoction. "I wanted to try cooking one of my favorite spices into something _other_ than meatrolls for once. Do you think I should add in some more?" She took the spoon from Lymria and tasted it again herself. "I think it might. But then again, I love spicey foods."

"So do I. And I like to experiment with spices," Lymria told. She grimaced and continued: "but then, when your main ingredient for food is ovine-meat, you have to get creative. I mean, after few months it gets rather boring and spices are the only way to spice it up."

The cook laughed as she began to add more spices into the pot. "Ovine-meat can get rather boring to prepare, can't it? I take it you're a cook yourself?"

"Well, not exactly a cook. Just a holder's wife with a lot of mouths to feed. And more ovine meat she can stand" Lymria answered with a good humour.

Cinale grinned at her. "Don't you ever get to prepare fish or beef for all those hungry mouths?"

"Fish, yes, when Omagi took a break from ovine raising and went to catch fishes from the mountain rivers. Beef? What's that?" Lymria answered with a grin.

"Heardbeast meat. It can be very good when tender..."

Lymria gave a wistful sigh. "It was such a rare delicacy there. No one raised herdbeasts that high up. Luckily, I can now have all the herdbeast I want."

"Definitely a nice change for you, hmm?" Cinale laughed before offering another spoonful of her stew to Lymria.

"Yes, in more than one way" Lymria agreed and took another taste. "It just gets better."

Cinale grinned at her. "What - your nice change or my stew?"

"Both," Lymria laughed, "both."
