"Are you going to the Hatching or not?" Sarban asked as he waded through Corowal's finery. "If you're going with Felyna, I'm not going. Someone has to mind the fort." He pulled up a tunic he thought was rather nice, but saw it was missing a button. That wouldn't work. Putting it down, he started to look at another ensemble.

"I think Felyna and I will attend. There's a few kids from Emerald Falls Hold Standing. I'm sure you noticed the Search dragon last sevenday," Corowal replied.

"I hear the new Weyrwoman from River Bluff is going." He found a pair of trousers that would work. "What color is Felyna wearing then? Hold colors?"

"I'll check with her," Corowal said.

"You'll need your jacket. Maybe a vest..." Frowning, he wished he had time to get with the tailors. "What about a hat?"

"Forget the vest, I'll suffocate, and I'd rather take an arrow to the head than wear a hat!" Corowal said indignantly. Hat! Would he ruin his hair with a hat?

"Then why do you own these hats if you're never going to wear them?" He gestured toward the rack. "Give 'em to me."

"I don't know. Most of them were gifts," Corowal peered the collection. "Take whatever pleases you."

Sarban shrugged and began to look through them, trying things on. "So you'll be seeing the Master Harper."

"Very likely. You have something for him?" Corowal replied.

"I have a message aye that I was hoping you could carry for me. Something about whether or not they wanted an amphitheater.." He shrugged, trying to make it seem like it wasn't anything. In reality, it was to enlist the Master in the plans for the birthingday celebration.

"I can take it to him," Corowal promised.

"Allright, I'll drop it to you tomorrow." He put the hats down and then turned to sit in one of the empty chairs. "Hopefully one of the kids impresses."

"So do I. We could boast with one more rider from Emerald Falls," Corowal said. And it would be one less mouth to feed.

"How many are we sending out to halls as apprentices?" Sarban vaguely remembered a number in his head, but he was unsure. "There was about twenty-five or so, right?"

"Fifteen," Corowal corrected.

"Hmm some of them decided not to apprentice then eh? We did need some cotholders and minor holders to take over." Sarban himself had plans once they had built up the population a bit more.

"Yes. Then there's two girls who had applied to Harper Hall apprenticeship, but they are still open, whether they will be accepted or their families will let them go."

"I wonder if they will. Here's my question..if Wallia decided she wanted to be a woodcrafter or something, would you let her?" Sarban wasn't quite sure about female crafters himself. Especially when they still needed to repopulate back to what they were. They had cotholds that could be settled again.

"She's blind, I doubt she would be accepted to any craft," Corowal snorted. "You picked a bad example."

"If she wasn't. Or even now..she could still sing. Would you let her be a harper?" Sarban was curious.

"Yes, I would let her," Corowal replied with a firm tone.

Sarban let it go, but he couldn't help but think. As a Lord Holder, Corowal's first duty was to the good of the Hold. For Emerald Falls to prosper, they needed people again, babies. And women crafters wouldn't be having babies for their Holds. The Halls would get them all.

"Anything else?" Corowal asked with a grin.

"I'm stealing this belt too." He gestured to the one in his hand.

"Not the one with the bronze decorations?"

"Ummm this is the one with the green circle stones on it." Sarban thought it was time he had some finery with the Hold's green to wear.

"I think I have several of those, so you're welcome," he gave an airy wave with his hand.

"Allright, will see you at evening meal." Sarban made his exit, reminding himself to give Corowal that message.
