After he left the Hatching sands, he sent a word to the Weyrwoman's second,
that he wanted to see her. It seemed like Hygalia was going to spend a whole
lot time there, so he need to make sure the younger goldrider knew the
situation.
"Weyrleader?" Teseada knocked politely before entering, unsure if there was
going to be anyone else there, hence the formality.
"Teseada, get in please," G'nir said with welcoming smile.
"Of course," she said responding to G'nir's smile. "What can I do for you?"
"Genith is just finnished laying her eggs. Hygalia will be pretty much stuck
in Sands with her for the next month. You'll be running the wing in her
stead. She also asked for some hides from her desk," G'nir told her and
watched her reaction with interest.
"I see," Teseada nodded. Her Onnyth hadn't been that insistent that she stay
the whole time with her and the eggs, but she supposed every gold was
different. "Did she say which hides? I suppose I better go and see her
myself, I'll need the notes she was making on drills to help me out."
"She didn't specify, perhaps she wants them all?" G'nir replied.
"Then as I said I'll get myself down to the sands and check. I don't want to
go hunting through her desk for the wrong things."
"Sounds like a best option," G'nir agreed.
"Are there many eggs?" she asked.
"Fourty-two, " G'nir replied, " A good number." Although not quite as high
as he had betted on.
"Hygalia must be pleased."
"She is. After all, she won a bottle white wine from me," G'nir was just on
such a good mood after watching the Clutching. It was his and Nirreth's
first one.
"And..." she paused. "Was there a gold?"
"No, there wasn't," G'nir said. He hadn't even hoped for one, so it didn't
come as disappointment.
"But we'll still need to bring the searchriders in for a meeting before we
send them out. Would you like me to organise that?"
"Yes, you can do that. Do you need help running the Queen's wing?" G'nir
asked. Her capabilities were still mostly unknow to him.
"Our wingthird is good, she'll help. And It isn't going to be for long.
Besides it won't be that long before I'm sat in Hygalia's place, waiting for
eggs to hatch."
"There is that," G'nir said. "Anyways, she said she can do the hidework."
The Goldriders seem to have a whole different world than his.
"Is there anything else she needs?"
"Lot's of klah," G'nir said wryly. "I already asked the Headwoman to take
care of that."
"It sounds like everything is under control then," Teseada said, a slight
smile on her face.
"Yes it is, and let's keep it that way too," G'nir said and smiled.
"I'll do my best."
