Teseada

Teseada

**Neath, can you ask Onnyth where her's is?** G'wen really wanted to see
his friend but when she wasn't in her weyr, he wasn't about to turn the Weyr upside down looking for her. And besides, this was so much easier to do!

}:Onnyth? Okay:{ The young green broadcast her message and then said to
her lifemate, }:they're both down by the inner lake. Can we go see them?:{

G'wen chorkled, thinking of his green's fasination with the queens. He let her lead the way, her bright hide easy to see through the dreary rain. He wondered when they would see the sun again, it had been almost a week since they had a sunny day. It would be good to get dry in the cavern.

"G'wen," Teseada greeted him as she watched the still tiny green make her
still awkward way towards the lake.

"Teseada!" G'wen shouted, stopping to shake off his wet coat. "Shards, it's wet out there."

Neath nosed her lifemate out of the way to take a closer look at the young queen. In doing so, she managed to knock the small boy down. "Neath!" he yelled at her. Reaching out a hand for Teseada to help him up, he added, "why didn't anyone tell me she'd be double the size of me in only a month? It's so not fair!" He grinned at his lifemate who, whilst not exactly twice his size, was more than eight feet long and as awkward as the day she was
born.

"You need to tell her to be careful, while she's still young." Teseada said as she tossed G'wen a towel.

"That implies that you think she listens to me," he teased Teseada as he
whipped his face dry. He tried not to laugh as Neath stared at Onnyth like a Holder girl seeing a handsome bronze rider.

"She'll learn to, or else you'll have E'naer after you to make sure she
does."

Onnyth meanwhile accepted the attention, after all, the gold reasoned, once in a while she deserved it now and then. }: You are growing little one,:{ she observed.

Neath practically preened at the compliment. Watching the two, G'wen
whispered to Teseada, "why didn't they tell me I'd be the one to get the
weirdest dragonet in the Hatching?" Giving the green one more look, he
rubbed the towel through his hair, making the shaggy mass look a mess. He'd have to go and beg T'bel to trim it soon, or it would be in his eyes like it used to be when he was a kitchen worker. Figuring he was as dry as he could make himself, he asked her, "so how are you and Onnyth keeping yourselves?"

"We're good, although I am so sick of the hidework. It just doesn't seem to end!" That, from what she could gather seemed to be the eternal complaint of a goldrider, or any rider with rank.

"Ah yes, the joys have having one of those." He pointed over to Onnyth.
"Yet another reason to be glad to have a green!" He watched as Neath
scooted up to get as close to Onnyth as possible, her neck craned back to an awkward angle. "Hmm...can I take that last remark back?

Onnyth gently backed away, wanting to give the hatchling some space.

"She's a curious one, that seems obvious." Teseada said as she watched the dragons.

When the queen backed up, Neath shuffled forward to resume her angle of
staring at her. Calling out, G'wen said, "sorry Onnyth!" He turned to
Teseada, and shook his head. "You should have seen her the other day with Gennith. So embarressing!"

"Ahhh. I get it now." Teseada understood, just like some of the weyr
residents followed her discreetly about, Neath was somewhat star struck.

**Onnyth, please speak to Neath, and, and be gentle.**

}:Neath,:{ she said gently, speaking to the little green. }:I understand,
you want to know what it will be like when you grow up, and you and yours
take your places in the wings. And you have to talk to older dragons to find out about that feels.:{

}:No, I want to know what it's like being a Queen! What's it like being the one in charge and having all the bronzes do your bidding?:{

Onnyth suppressed the need to snort, before relaying the question to her
rider.}:I am a Queen, and it just happens like that. but one day soon, when you rise for the first time you will have bronze dragons doing your bidding too.:{

"I take it back," Teseada said to G'wen. "Curious doesn't cover it, I'd say bold and insistent were more descriptive. Did you hear what she just asked Onnyth?"

}:Yes, one day I will know what it's like being a Queen, having bronzes beg for me!:{ Neath looked as smug as a dragon could, with that remark.

G'wen groaned and looked at Teseada. "Do I have to admit I can hear
anything that she just said? Bloody shards, I'm_so_glad I got my first time taken care of, I don't think this girl is going to wait much past the ban lift before she gives Rising a go."

"I'm sorry Onnyth said what she did, she might just have made things worse for you."

}:You will have a taste little one, but only for a short time. Mostly you'll just have to enjoy being a green dragon, free from responsibilities outside of fall. But there is one thing that we have in common,:{ the Gold told her. }:When we rise, we both win and enjoy. Remember that:{

}:When will I Rise then?:{ Neath wanted so much to feel the power a Queen
got to feel.

}:When you are old enough,:{ came the response.

Trying to ignore his green, G'wen turned to his friend, asking, "so when
will Onnyth Rise? Anytime soon?"

"Near as I can figure, sometime towards the end of next month."

"Well, that'll be better than hidework, right?" G'wen grinned and gave her a nudge with his hip before turning back to what Neath was up to. She, in turn, seemed to be studying the poor Queen as closely as an artist their subject. Or as a love-struck girl would someone like U'kaiah.

"This hidework will double," Teseada said. "Hygalia will have to take my
wing duties, so in turn, I'll take over some of the records that need
keeping up to date. Plus there's recording the number of eggs, and.then what happens at the hatching..."

"Oh shards!" In sympathy he leaned over and gave her a hug. "I'm sorry."

"It is worth it though, I mean I get to see who Impresses, and that is
definitely worth it."

Listening in on her lifemate's conversation, Neath carefully rose on her
hind legs to try and touch noses with Onnyth. }:So what is Hatching day like for you?:{

}:Busy, little one. My eggs hatch, and my children meet their riders.:{

}:Do you have a mate? Any bronze that is a particular favorite?:{

}:None yet, but there can be lots of fun in finding one.:{

Neath sat back, contemplating. Maybe she should be looking and picking a
bronze too. Listening to her mind clicking along, G'wen warned, **Neath,
what are you up to now?** Turning to Teseada, he said, "I know_that_look on her...it's never any good!"

"I'd get E'naer and his green to talk to her, she clearly isn't
understanding what Onnyth is telling her."

"Oh, she understands all too well. Her problem is she doesn't really know she's a green." The last thing he wanted was to have to go asking E'naer to help, again.

"I don't know what to suggest then. But remember E'naer is there to help you and her."

He rolled his eyes after taking one more look at the two female dragons.
Shivering slightly, he asked, "you done here? Want a warm cup of klah? I could certainly use on."

"Now that sounds like a good idea." Teseada grinned, "A bubbly pie as well?"

"Now you're talking!"

"Then lead on Greenrider." Teseada made a mental note to have a word with
E'naer anyway, just to ask him to keep a discreet eye on the pair. It
couldn't hurt after all.
