Traelyn wasn't sure who had moved first; whether it had been her hand that had slid down his side, or whether it had been his arm that had tightened around her. But she found, as he eased her down on her back in the sand, that it didn't sharding _matter_. Her hands tightened on his arms as she looked up at him, silently, holding his eyes with hers.
He knew his need must be showing on his face. Looking into her dark eyes he thought he saw the same need, and that was a comfort. N'vanik kissed her, feeling the heat as their lips touched. He had been so cold lately.
The look in his eyes reminded her of the first time she had been with him, but...it was different too. When his lips met hers, she responded to his kiss without hesitation - holding nothing back from him. One hand slid into his long hair, her fingers tightening as she shifted, pulling him closer to her.
The sand beneath them was soft and warm, so diffent from the stone of the weyr. His lips moved along her neck line as he began to work at the lacings of his tunic. The hand tangled in his hair was so familiar, even in the short time he'd known her.
Her eyes closed as she slipped her hands beneath his shirt, slowly sliding it up his back, her nails trailing along his spine as she did so. "Lift your head," she murmured, and when he complied, she pulled it gently over him then let it fall carelessly to the sand. Her eyes trailed over him, then her fingers followed the path of her gaze. Lightly, they traced the outline of his shoulders, then they slid to his chest, then lower.
An impish light flickered in her eyes when her fingers reached the buckle on his belt.
N'vanik's hands slid over hers and gently took them from his belt. He began to take off her shirt, slowly, teasing all the way. When her upper body was finally bare, he took Trae's hands again and put them back on his belt buckle, smiling slightly.
She gazed up at him, searching his eyes for a moment before a smile whispered across her lips to echo his. "Come here," she murmured, gently bringing his mouth to hers. The fire would come later. Right now, they had more.

"All this sun is bringing out your freckles." N'vanik said as they lounged in a patch of shade.
One eye cracked open a bit at that, and she smiled, shifting so her head could rest comfortably on his shoulder. "Mmm...and I'm getting tan too.
I'm not that pale waif I was back at Dragonsfall anymore..."
"Pale maybe, but you were no waif. A waif couldn't have kept up with me."
He gave her a look that was part cocky and part tease.
One brow rose slightly and both eyes opened to look at him. "Oh really?"
"Mmm-hmm. I like my women with some strength in them."
"Do you now?" She shifted, one leg sliding over both of his until she was lightly straddling him. "And I take it I passed your test?" Her dark eyes glinted down into his.
"Every time." He trailed his fingers along her thigh.
Her expression turned more serious, and a little thoughtful, at his words.
"What do you look for, N'vanik?" she asked softly.
He shrugged a shoulder. "I don't know . . . someone that looks like they'd be good for a roll."
Well, so much for that. "Mmm..." she lowered her head to trail her lips over his chest. "Typical bronzerider..."
"Oh, so I'm typical now?" He asked through half-lidded eyes.
Trae lifted her head to look down at him, a teasing smile touching the corners of her lips. "Sometimes." She paused then, studying him quietly for a moment before gently rolling off him to lay at his side. "But usually? No, N'vanik."
"That's good to know." He knew she was trying to get information out of him. She did that a lot. He'd gotten used to it during their short association, and he had come to enjoy evading her attempts. Most of the time, at least.
She closed her eyes. In all honesty, she wasn't trying to get him to talk to her. Not really. He had admitted so much to her already... Admitted things that she hadn't been expecting.
"It sure is nice here," N'vanik said quietly.
"Yeah..." A question danced on the tip of her tongue, but she bit it back, not knowing what she wanted his answer to be of she _did_ ask. It would only complicate things. She gave a soft sigh, trailing her fingers through the sand.
But things already _were_ complicated. "It is."
He kissed her and ran a hand along her side. "So let's enjoy it." **While we can** he didn't add.
Traelyn gazed at him for a long moment before she raised her hand to cup his cheek, slowly bringing his mouth to hers. **While we can...**
