Characters: Meledei, G'wen
Description: Meledei comes to DFW to visit G'wen
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 2 of Turn 6

Overhead a familiar silvery gold flew to land in the clearing by the
Weyrwoman's quarters. Nudging Neath, G'wen said, "come on." He had
only meet the young weyrwoman from Dolphin Cove once and as he walked,
he started to hesitate, wondering if she's even remember him from
those months ago. Probably she was on official business; he had heard
about what had happened to their Weyrwoman. He stopped then
altogether.

Little did Galwen know that Meledei wasn't there on official business.
She was there to visit friends, but she was also there to visit a
newer acquaintance. Of course, where was she going to find him though?
That question had no sooner been posed when one of the very people
she came to see came into sight. She steered her course toward the
sight of the young man, then slowed when she drew near. "Galwen!"
She called, the noted the knots. "Oh...Or should I say, G'wen?"

Oh, so she_had_remembered him! How kind! "Hello! Yes, it is G'wen
now." He stopped and smiled, indicating Neath behind him. She peered
over his shoulder at the newcomer.

"Hello Neath." Meledei waved to the dragon, then looked back to the
man she hadn't seen in a few months. "There now, Impressed and all.
I'm glad you did. I was wondering after I heard about the hatching.
I'm sorry I didn't come sooner."

"It's okay, I'm impressed you know her name already!"

"That would be Elleth's doing." Meledei grinned, letting her hand
drop to her side. "I asked her. So how do you like being a Weyrling,
hm?"

He motioned her to the feeding pens to get away from the crowds. "I
love it! It's so much easier than being a drudge, let me tell you. We
can't wait to fly Fall, can we?" He looked at the big green and patted
her neck.

"I think most dragon pairs can't." Meledei stated with a laugh.
"Especially on the part of the dragon." Even Elleth had been eager to
get into the sky, though she was good at hiding her enthusiasm. "I'm
sure you will both do well."

"Do you guys see much action, being down in the queen's wing?" He
watched the small gold as they walked.

"Not really. Definitely not compared to what you guys do!" Meledei
shook her head. "But we do get some and that's why we have our trusty
flamethrowers. Don't be too rushed to get through training. You'll
need the training."

"Oh, don't I know! It _is_ interesting though, the classes. I've not
been in classes for a couple of turns now. It would have been fun to
have gone to the Harper ones but..." How could he say he wasn't
talented enough to be an apprentice?

"Well, you don't have to worry about that any longer. You're a
dragonrider now!" Meledei pointed out. She wanted to ask more, but
had enough sense to see that he was holding back for a reason.
"That's better than anything else in Pern!"

"Yes indeed!"

"So do you want to have lunch together or what?" Meledei asked as
they stepped from the outside into the Weyr proper. "I can grab my
friends and we can all sit together."

"That'd be nice. Neath and I have some free time until I'm needed in
the feeding ens for evening chores." He followed her into the Hall
after giving his yawning green a pat good-bye. She seemed more than
happy to visit with the new gold.

"Good. So come on, let's see if we can find them." Meledei would
have offered to help with the chores but she had a feeling that they
might get in trouble for it. Besides, he needed to do stuff on his
own. At least they would have some time for a nice little visit.
