Benani

Benani

Benani was walking toward the entrance of the hall when she saw a
familiar figure silhouetted against the light. "Royah!" she called and
picked up her pace. She hadn't seen him since her birthingday
celebrations. "I've missed you" she smiled as she got closer.

"I've missed seeing you around to. That husband of yours must be keeping
you busy," he teased gently.

She laughed and blushed at the same time. "It has been a bit busy."
**In more ways than one.** "How are you?" She put an arm around his
waist and hugged him with her head and shoulder.

His arm went around her, returning the hug. "Yatia has missed her Auntie, I
think she wants to have a doll's tea party with you."

"I miss her too." Benani smiled. "You know, Ailnim will be turning two
next month I should get a little party together for all the little
cousins. I only hope Nimroy will be back in time for it."

"I don't know about that, he didn't say an awful lot to me about it." Not
that the two of them had that much to say to each other really, they just
seemed to have very little in common.

"I know," she said. It was strange how she got along with some of her
siblings yet only saw others at major events. She reached for his
hand and pulled him toward the wall and out of traffic. "Royah," she
was almost bursting with her news and just couldn't keep it inside any
more. "I know it's too early to really say anything but... I'm
pregnant." she whispered the last so as not to be overheard. "You're
going to be an Uncle... ok an Uncle _again_." She laughed at herself
she was one of the youngest of Benaroy's children and had been an Aunt
before she was even born.

"Really?" The look on his face said it all. "My lot are going to have a baby
cousin to play with?"

She smiled a very happy smile. "Yes they are." She hugged him again.
"Please give Tenia my love. Has Niaroy decided on his craft yet?"

"Not yet, one day he says Vintner, the next Technician. We don't want to
push him." the boy couldn't decide, but as a member of the blood he'd
always have a place at the hold, he could hopefully still make a useful
marriage, but if he could gain craft rank as well it would be so much better
for him.

She smiled, it was always a big decision and he was almost of age to
apprentice. "Well you tell Yatia that come next restday she can come
have tea with me. I'll make it a special Ladies Tea, just for her. "

"She'll be there, and her doll as well, especially since she'll show it off
to anyone who cares to look."

Benani chuckled then leaned up to give Royah a kiss and her cheek.
"Can you believe it's been almost a full Turn since father passed?"

"I know, and it's scary to think he won't be here to see our children grow
up." He paused for a moment, thinking. "Maybe we should have some sort of
memorial ceremony?"

Emotion washed over her. "That is a wonderful idea Royah. I'll talk to
Zathris and see what we can arrange." She knew things would be a
little busy for her husband with Wirnan in his current troubles but
she was certain they could pull something nice together.

"We could keep it for the family and those he knew best. Give us a chance to
remember him properly."

"Yes, I agree. It would be nice to get the whole family together for
something as special as this." She smiled "I miss him."

"I do too, I think I always will."
