"Do you think she's alright?" S'vin worried out loud to the other two boys.
"I think so...she would have gone to the infirmary otherwise, right?"
G'wen struggled to keep up with the other two. They were hurrying
over to where Cardella and Aweth where.
"Are you ok?" K'ale asked Cardella when they arrived. "How's Awenth?"
E'naer had walked away so maybe it wasn't all that bad.
Cardella gave the boys a sad smile. "Yes, we're both okay. Awenth
pulled a muscle and won't be flying for a few days, but E'naer assured
me that she'd be fine with some rest."
"What happened?" G'wen asked, giving Cardella a hug. S'vin walked up
and down Awenth's length, looking for the offending muscle.
"When we landed she put her weight down and it just was a bit off
balance, I guess." Carella shrugged then looked to the boys. "I was
worried it was something I'd done, but E'naer said it wasn't, but,
well, I'm still not sure."
}:Do you need help getting back to your wallow?:{ Neath asked Awenth,
nuzzling her.
"Well if E'naer said it wasn't you then... it wasn't. He would be the
one to know," K'ale said. "Don't beat yourself up." He put his arm
around her shoulders and gave her a sideways hug. "Ok?"
She appreciated their support in more ways than she could count.
"Thanks," she said, looking to them both. "I don't know what I would
do if you guys weren't here."
}:It _does_ still hurt, but mine says it will heal,:{ Awenth said
first to Neath and then she bespoke her rider. }:Neath has offered to
help me.:{ **Oh, I hadn't thought of that,** Cardella told her dragon
sending her thoughts of encouragement towards her even as her face
registered her concern at not having considering Awenth might need
help.
She watched as Awenth walked and hopped slowly, trying not to put much
weight on her offending leg. "Why does it always seem to be us?" She
asked sadly. "Everyone else seemed to do just fine."
K'ale just chuckled and gave her shoulder another squeeze before
letting her go. "She'll be fine, and so will you. Don't worry."
"It's just the law of averages, Car," S'vin said as they walked. "You
were the star pupil in our candidates classes whilst G'wen here was so
bad they almost kicked him out. And now? He's one of the better eggs
and you're getting all the bad luck that he had. Don't worry, it all
evens out. Just watch, you'll probably be our star when we get to
fly thread and be the one all the wingleaders are desperate for."
"Don't say that, you'll jinx us." G'wen shuddered at the unsaid in
S'vin's words. Like if one of them was a star in Fall, would that
mean that one of them might die in that same Fall?
"Shards! No pressure. Eh S'vin?" K'ale shook his head at the bluerider.
Sometimes, things sound way better in your head than they do once you
spit them out. "Don't listen to him hun." he said to Cardella. "You're
fine, everybody is fine!" the last was delivered with a _very_ pointed
look at S'vin.
She wasn't sure if she was comforted or more distressed by what the
boys were sharing with her. She felt better when K'ale had given her
some added support with his hand, yet when he took it away, she
actually felt its loss.
"I think I'd better get Awenth back to her couch to rest so we won't
miss out on anything important," she smiled weakly to them all,
wishing she felt better about herself, but truthfully, she didn't like
feeling like the 'bad egg' in the bunch.
