Teseada

Teseada

Everything seemed still, in the Hatching Cavern. Onnyth was curled
around her eggs with the small figure of Teseada off to one side.
Walking a bit faster as Neath pushed him in the back, G'wen came up to
Teseada, his arms ladden with food and drink. Grinning at her, he
said, "I thought you could use something to freshen you up." He
held up his arms before sliding the tray down beside the girl.
Turning back to his green, he warned, "stay back Neath, let Onnyth
tell you if she wants you around." He glanced over his shoulder to
the young weyrwoman. "She's been desperate to see the eggs, poor
thing. She was really down when she found out that she can't Clutch."

Teseada smiled. "Thanks for this, I was expecting one of the kitchen workers
to come up, or my mother."

"Well, what are friends for?" The boy smiled and sat down beside her.
Taking a small sweet off one side of the plate, he picked at it and
nodded to Neath. "She okay doing that?" The green was trying to be
sly about sneaking closer to Onnyth.

}:Where are you going little one?:{ Onnyth asked of Neath. There was an odd
note to the gold's voice, like she was ready to snap at anyone that got too
close.

G'wen blew out the breath he was holding. "Neath! Get back over
here!" he hissed at his green. The green looked completely dejected
at that, having just wanted to give Onnyth a nuzzle.

"I think she'd better stay back a little. Onnyth is feeling very protective
today."

The boy nodded and silently commanded his green back to them. She
came up to the two young people with her belly dragging on the sands,
feeling completely sorry for herself. "Come here Neath, Onnyth's not
mad at you, she's just feeling protective right now." The green stuck
her nose in the both their hands, wanting all the reassurance she
could get.

Teseada couldn't resist a smile at the young green's antics. "Just be glad
she doesn't go through this herself."

G'wen snorted at that whilst he cuddled Neath's head.
"She's_desperate_to have eggs, you know. She wants so badly to be a
queen, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with her." At that, Neath
sighed loudly and nuzzled Teseada's hand for a pat.

"Maybe after the hatching Onnyth could talk to her?" suggested Teseada.

"That'd be good. I doubt she'll listen much to Eillispeth. You'd
better pet her before she takes your head off." Neath was all but in
Teseada's lap, begging for a pet.

"Does she like a good scratch on her eye ridges?"

G'wen laughed. "What dragon doesn't?"

Teseada obliged, "Is that okay for her?"

The boy didn't have to answer. Neath had all but melted into a puddle
over both the riders. "Watch it!" G'wen quickly grabbed the tray
before she could topple it over. He gave Teseada a reproching look.
"I told you she was feeling down. Any attention and she's like this."

"Well she has some attention now." Teseada laughed. "And I do appreciate the
visit. It's going to be a long time down here."

"Indeed she does." He reached out to hug the green's neck. "So what
was Onnyth like for her first Clutching?"

"Impossible, she wanted me there for every second. Last time she wasn't too
bad. Hopefully I might get an evening or two away this time."

"That'd be nice. We could throw you a little party or something." He
reached out to give her shoulders a squeeze.

She smiled. "I'd like that."

"Any cute boys I should invite?" he teased, giving her a flirty look.

"I'm sure they'll flock around - to see a newly minted senior weyrling," she
teased in return.

"Oh please. Maybe for N'den." That greenrider was certainly handsome
enough. "But not for me. A couple of blue weyrlings were telling me
the other day I was prettier than their sisters...and I don't think
they meant it in a flattering sort of way." He rolled his eyes at
that, accepting he wasn't any man's idea of a fantasy date.

"Until they catch Neath."

"It's not the catching Neath bit that worries me, its the after they
wake up and it's me in the bed with them." He squeezed his eyes shut
and shook himself like a flit after a bath, with that thought.

"Trust me, after they've had a good time, they'll be wanting to repeat the
process."

"Who says they're gonna have a good time? Maybe I'll cut their boy
bits off and hang them on Neath's neck or something!" He gave her a
silly grin. "Just think of all the little trophies I could collect!
You could do it too...together we'd be the most feared riders of
female dragons on Pern."

Teseada couldn't resist it - she laughed, hard enough that a tear came to
her eye.

"Ah yes, we could destroy all the men of Dragonsfall and then move on
to Vista Weyr and then River's Buff!" He sat back, imagining the
whole silly scenario before deadpanning to her, "and why stop at only
the Weyrs? There's more than a few Holder men that can stand to lose
their bits as well." At that he broke down and laughed along with
her.

"Don't go repeating that to the girls in your class," Teseada managed as she
got herself back under control.

"Why? It'd certainly keep some of those bronze boys in their place."
