Is it going back to normal?

Ishek looked a little bit lost as he wandered through Garnet Valley. He had a meeting he wanted to make, with a Harper, Carlan. He could have arranged to have the man meet him in his office, or something official like that. Ishek had never insisted on the formalities, however.
Besides, he wanted a chance to get up from the pile of work and stretch his legs as well as look around the Hold- he was still finding himself lost occasionally, though fortunately that was becoming more and more rare as time went on.

There were other reasons too. He believed in looking at people at work.
It was a more relaxed environment then in an office, usually, and he enjoyed the informality. You could see a side of people that you might not see otherwise.

Ah, he thought, stopping outside a room. Here was the person he sought, or so he assumed. "Journeyman Carlan?" he asked.

"Sir?" Carlan rose to his feet, putting the stylus he was grading assignments with to one side. "Please, come in."

Ishek stepped inside and smiled. "How are you doing today?" he asked, looking for a place to sit and then sitting. "Don't worry, this isn't anything official." he added. "I just want to get to know people."

"I'm very well thank you milord," replied the Harper, a little relief showing in his face at the 'not official' bit. He was half tempted to worry that the man had heard of his arrival at Garnet Valley, and would have words to say on that subject.

"That's good to know." Ishek said. "Things have been pretty chaotic here recently, I understand. I've seen some of it myself. It's starting to settle down though I think. But you're a Harper, you're more in touch with the people. Is it going back to normal, you think?"

"Slowly," he replied. "The children come to classes as normal, I hear from their parents that they are no longer so worried about what is happening here. They feel more reassured now that there is someone here taking hold again."

"I'm grateful that they are no longer worried. If they were still, it would make things harder. I appreciate your candor in this matter. And you personally, how do you feel about how things are going?"

"Me, I'm happier now, I have a wife and child to consider, and after the events here... It did worry me for a while."

"Oh, a wife and child? Are they doing well?" Ishek asked curiously. He had a great love for family himself.

"Nikanna, my wife, she's turning out to be a wonderful mother. Ryannae, she seems to grow by the candlemark. And although I'm biased, I think she's just as beautiful as her mother."

He recognized the name of the wife slightly- wasn't she of the blood? It didn't matter per se- they were married and members of his Hold, and if he was hosting one of the blood, all the better then. "A daughter?" he asked.
"Some might prefer sons, but I've always imagined a daughter would be adoreable to raise."

"Maybe our next child will be a boy. But I'd not change anything about Ryannae." A smile crossed the harper's face at the thought of his daughter, something he was still so suprised with. His own daughter.

Ishek saw the look on the man's face and felt a momentary dash of envy. He wished that he had a child that he could feel that way about. **And a wife to produce that child with...** Shaking his head slightly to clear the thoughts, he spoke again. "Is there anything else you'd like to tell me, either about you personally or what you've seen of the Hold?"

"Not at the moment Sir."

Ishek nodded. "It's been a pleasure meeting you, Carlan." he said, rising to his feet. "You've been very helpful, and I appreciate that. Please feel free to call on me if anything comes to your attention, or if you find you need something."

"A pleasure to meet you too Sir."

"I'll leave you to your work then." Ishek said, and departed. He was grateful to have met Carlan and had things cleared up for him.
