She had gone through the lists that had been sent. Rhosyn saw it all as
routine. None of the amounts were strange to catch her attention. Waiting for the Headwoman to come in for their usual meeting, she scribbled notes to give her.

Solieira showed up on time, as usual, for her normal meeting with the
Weyrwoman. She found Rhosyn a very nice change and enjoyed their meetings, though no one would ever replace Tsaera in her mind. No one. She missed her old friend dreadfully sometimes.

But practically, she was on her way to making friends with the new Weyrwoman and that would just have to do.

She knocked once, then let herself in quietly. "Hello, Weyrwoman. I've
brought some treats for our meeting," she said by way of greeting, showing the basket on her arm.

"You read my mind," Rhosyn grinned, enjoying the fact that Solieira already
knew her well enough to think of things like that. River Bluff was her home. "Please sit. I've got the water and juice there already."

Sol grinned in return and made herself comfortable in the chair. She opened
her basket and the sweet smell of fresh bubblies made its way out. The bubblies were packed along with sweetbreads, cheese, and fresh baked last night cookies. She poured herself some water and helped herself to some cheese. Her smile returned. "Well, I've been going over the lists and
don't see anything too unusual, but you never know. What is on your mind today, Rhosyn?"

"Well...I agree that we don't seem to have any issues with the normal
things." She grabbed one of the bread pieces and placed a cheese slice on it. "As you know, I've been poking about the stores here and there when I have the time. I understand that we as riders have needs and that items will be reused. However, I think we have so much in there, most of it will probably never get reused by us for a Pass or more." She looked down and then back up. "There are likely those in the South that could use the items and we could perhaps get trade value with them for things we will use."

Sol was quiet for a moment, considering this question. No other Weyrwoman
had suggested such a thing in her time as Headwoman here, and it was a bit of a shock for her to hear it. But, she was not all that bound up in tradition, really, and at least wanted to think it through before just blurting out 'that isn't done'. Maybe it should be done.

There were a lot of things to consider before speaking. First, if she was
going to disagree with Rhosyn, did she know her well enough to do so, and would their just beginning-to-bloom-friendship survive it? And second, how firmly does one disagree with one's Weyrwoman? She had known how to talk to Tsaera. They had disagreed sometimes, though not often. And she and Zharesti had not had time to work out their relationship, but she had disagreed with her only quietly.

"Well, Lady. I would not say "most" of what we have will go unused. We have
hundreds of riders here, and nearly as many non-rider residents, and they are quite the demanding lot. And often, transfers bring very little with them, and Candidates who become riders of course have nothing with which to stock their weyrs. Many times, it's those odd, little used items that the riders and the Weyr residents find most interesting. But I am willing to consider what you say, provided we will get some items back in return. Though I would not start with "most". Perhaps one storeroom, you probably know the one I mean, can be marked as things Weyr residents may not want, and Holders or Crafters may want instead. Perhaps we could use that one to test your idea. It hasn't ever been done, at least at River Bluff, before, you know, but that doesn't mean it isn't time to try something new." She finished speaking and fell silent, her eyes intent on Rhosyn.

She nodded. "Aye, I'd like to see how well it does in getting us useful
items we might not ever see otherwise. Make me a list of those sorts of things. I know you deal with the craftmasters, seeing to their needs. Check with them first if they have need and would wish to barter in return. If not, I will meet with the next trader train to come through."

Sol smiled and nodded. Even for one of her turns, sometimes it never hurt to try something new. You never knew, maybe it would be a fantastic way to get better things for the people of the Weyr, and that was, after all, her first responsibility. The people. And she didn't mind at all.

"Of course! I'll take one of my helpers and have you a list, say, in a
couple of days? That will give me time to speak to the craftmasters as well. A lovely idea, Lady. It should be even a little bit.... fun." Her brown eyes twinkled slightly, before she made a note on one of her hides. She would get those baker boys to help her, the layabouts. They always wanted looking after.

"I'm glad you see it that way. Otherwise, everything else I have is routine
stuff. Like a few shorts and special requests from stores from a few folks. Do you have an updated candidate list? I'd like to speak with them soon I think, see how they're doing." She scratched her head, thinking she was forgetting something.

Solieira handed over the latest Candidate list she had made up. "Updated
just this morning, Lady. I know you've been here a while now, Rhosyn, but you'll find much of our work is routine."

Her grin was wide and happy. "I've been here for so many turns I have forgotten any other place, and K'sedel - or his son - have both been fairly stable as Weyrleaders. Tsaera was here longer than me, even, and between us all, we've managed to smooth out most of the bumps that some other Weyrs in the South seem to run into with constant leadership changes or missing Weyrwomen or the like. I find I like it that way...."

She tilted her head curiously at the lady before her, wondering if she liked it routine and fairly stable too.

At mention of Traelyn, Rhosyn tried not to think about _that_. "It was
easier coming into the Weyr..I had K'sedel to look to when I was unsure. I didn't come into a mess, which was also nice. I'd like to be like Tsaera, the constant for the Weyr." Much of her life before coming to River Bluff had been unsure. "Of course I can't exactly make up Orlaith's mind for her, making sure she always chooses the same one."

"No, but twice now she has. Here's to continuing stability...and routine....and a wonderful, amazing Clutch." Sol grinned, raising her glass in a salute. "Congratulations on another large clutch, Rhosyn. These ideas you have will surely help us as we continue to grow."

Smiling at the prospect of new dragonets, she joined in the toast and drank. "I rather like having eggs, though it means I can't fly." She could still do most of her wing duties from the ground, though. "I'll let you get back to your work, but let me know."

Sol nodded and stood. She took her leave with a smile. "I like having eggs too, Lady, and so many is even more exciting. We'll have loads of new arrivals wanting to Stand. I'd best see to that as well as the storage room trading. Have a wonderful day." she smiled again and waved as she left, pleased with their discussion.
