Finally, he was free to go. His replacement as the Weyrhealer had been
chosen and was arriving soon. Telemon had received new posting from the
Hall, as a master healer for the new hold, Sunstone Seahold.
His lifted the wicker basket with Taiga inside to the young brownrider,
who was taking him to his new home.
The basket made an angry meow. "What's in there?" M'shan asked with
astonished tone when he received the basket.
"My feline, so be gentle with it," Telemon replied.
"Sounds unhappy," M'shan commented and carefully attached the basket to
Juth's straps. He made sure that it was secure and that the basket's
lid couldn't come off.
"She hates travel and being shut in," Telemon said and handed him rest of
his packages. There weren't much but still more than when he had first
arrived to Weyr Turns ago. Ena was flitting around him, excited. She
could follow then on her own.
It didn't take long to M'shan to get them attached to Juth's straps.
"Ready to go?" the brownrider asked.
"Yes. No need to delay," Telemon said with a shrug. He had said his
goodbyes to all those he felt meant something to him. He was going to
miss the Headwoman and his staff. He didn't leave many personal friends
behind. Actually, he had nobody he would had called a true friend. The
master healer didn't need help getting up to the dragon's back. M'shan
clipped
them on and signaled Juth to take to the air. Conscious of passanger,
Juth's take off was smooth and careful. When the dragon circled to gain
height, Telemon gave the weyr the last look. Then they went /between/.
They came out over the Sunstone. "Can you circle around a bit? I would
like to get a good view of the hold and the lands around it," Telemon
asked, the wind forcing him almost shout into the brownrider's ear.
"Sure can, sir!" M'shan replied and instructed Juth mentally. The brown
flied lazy, wide circles around the area. Telemon leaned sideways and
inspected it. The hold was new, he knew that, recently promoted to major
hold-status. He could see marks of construction. This was a growing
hold. The waters sparkled under the sun, the port was full of ships. He
felt tingle of anticipation in his stomach. Being a healer in a young,
vibrant hold like this…it was going to be exciting, a welcome challenge.
He patted M'shan's shoulder to indicate that they could land now.
Receiving the wordless command, Juth backwinded to land in the hold's
gather square.
M'shan opened the straps and slide to the ground first, turning to help
the healer down. But Telemon had done enough dragonrider and did not
need or take his help.
"Master Telemon?" a man with assistant Steward knots on his shoulders
asked as he walked towards the pair, eyeing the dragon and rider warily.
"Yes, that me," Telemon replied and turned to look the man, while M'shan
started to unload his things from Juth's straps.
"I have been sent from Lord Morin," the man said with a respectful bow.
"He wishes to take time to greet you inside while my men take your
things to your quarters. We will also see the dragonrider paid for his
services."
"All right,"Telemon said and nodded.
"Do I let her out now," M'shan asked when he took down the feline
basket.
"No, she'll bolt and I'll never see her again. I let her out when I get
to my quarters, that way she will know where her home is."
The Steward's assistant saw the object of his concern. "I will make
sure my men do not open it until you are ready." He turned, nodding to
a man beside him as he pressed marks into his hand. "Now, if you will
follow me, sir, I will see you to Lord Morin."
"Okay," Telemon replied. Glancing over his shoulder he said: "Clear
Skies to you, M'shan."
"You too, master healer, be well," the young brownrider replied.
"This way, sir," the assistant said, waving an arm in the direction he
should start in.
