"I heard about what happened. I'm glad you're doing better now," Jykri
told G'wen.

The small boy blinked and focused on the speaker. This was his first
day back with the weyrlings and he still didn't have his bearings.
Seeing Jykri, he nodded and put down his cup of klah. "Thank you.".
Beside him S'vin
grinned at the candidate.

Smiling back at S'vin, he said, "Hi, I'm Jykri." He offered his hand.

"And I'm S'vin, nice to meet you." The glint in his eyes said exactly
what he meant by being glad as he stood up. The candidate was cute!

"Nice to meet you, S'vin." Checking out his knots, he added. "Oh, so
you're a dragonrider, too. A bluerider."

"I am." He twirled the knots in his fingers, acting more like a stereotypical
greenrider than little G'wen beside him ever thought of.

Jykri wasn't sure, but he thought S'vin might be flirting. "Did you
know you would Impress blue, or was it a surprise?"

G'wen snorted. "It was the shock of the entire bloody Weyr." When
S'vin stopped playing with his knots to glare at the tiny boy, G'wen
ignored him and added, "he was pegged--pun indented--as a future
greenrider. Was it half the Weyr's blueriders you slept with or all
of them? I keep forgetting."

Jykri blinked in surprise and looked at S'vin. He wasn't sure if G'wen
was joking, or insulting, or both.

"You're just jealous because none of those boys payed you any mind
until that night in Sh'lua's," S'vin quipped back. G'wen glared at
him for a moment before both boys resolved into giggles.

Okay, so friendly teasing then. "It really _is_ different here." He
was still getting used to it.

"Is it?" S'vin asked before answering his own question. "I suppose
so. Did you know that the girls over at that Hold the other day were
held back from being Searched by Kadeth and Sh'lua's? Isn't that
crazy?" He looked at G'wen as he spoke who nodded at the insanity of
Holders. He turned back to the candidate. "Why do they do that?
It's so unfair!"

"They left them behind? Why?" Jykri asked.

"That's what I'd like to know as well." S'vin gave him a perplexed
look before remembering what he had been doing before G'wen's snarky
remark. One hand returning to play with his knots, S'vin's other hand
went to Jykri's shoulder before sliding down and playing with a loose
thread on his tunic. "So handsome, how long have you been at the Weyr
and why didn't G'wen here tell me such a cutie was in a candidate
barracks?"

A flush crept into his cheeks as he smiled. "About two months."

"And in all that time you never once thought to seek me out?" S'vin
pouted before his one hand slid further down Jykri's tunic.

Seeing where it was headed G'wen quickly slapped it away. "Hey, be nice!"

"I don't mind." Jykri's grew even hotter. He wished he could get over
the embarrassment and be _confident_.

"See, he doesn't mind," S'vin echoed to G'wen. "Don't you have some
other poor candidates to boss about? Off you go, there's a good boy."
The blue rider all but shoved G'wen away and turned back to his prey.

"That wasn't nice," Jykri said.

"Oh, it's G'wen, he's used to it." S'vin waved a dismissive hand in
the direction of G'wen's retreating back.

"Are you sure he won't be upset?" Jykri watched G'wen leave. The
greenrider seemed nice and he didn't want to be involved in hurting
his feelings.

"G'wen? Nah, his head's full of E'naer anyways. You know they're
lovers, right?" S'vin gave Jykri a glance that said he had just told
him a secret before wrapping an arm in his and leading him out of the
Hall.

Jykri frowned a little. The name was familiar ... "That's the
Weyrlingmaster Third, isn't it? Where are we going?"

"I just thought we could take the time and get to know one another
right before your classes and my drills start.". He gave the boy a
flirty grin and walked him further to the Flight rooms.

Jykri very much liked learning from Daret, but he'd also wondered what
it would be like with someone else. This was a Weyr, so things like
that were okay. Still, he blushed as he returned the smile. "As long
as you're okay starting with, umm ... just a sample."

"Oh honey, I don't want to own you! I just want a little taste." He
shook his head at the boy and playfully pushed him towards one of the
rooms.

His whole body heated at the idea of being tasted. "That sounds good,"
Jykri said a little breathlessly as he stepped into the room.

"Good." Deftly S'vin pulled down the boy's trousers and stopped for a
moment to take a look. "Oh, this should be fun..."
