Description: The 'Sh' clan's weyrbrats help their new cousin, Sh'del, with his dragon
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 12 of Turn 6

"Are you uncle Sh'del?" a bright eyed weyrbrat asked, watching the
brownrider. There was three of them, around same age and sharing a
likeness that indicated that they were more or less related. They were
carrying buckets and other gear needed to wash dragons.

" Cause if you are, dad said we help you to wash your dragon," one of
the girls continued.

"Grand-dad," the other two corrected.

"Shut up, he's my _dad_" the first one growled. She continued after
the little side-play:" He said that now that you're joined the family
you get to enjoy the frigg... firn...frind..." she stumbled over the
unfamiliar word.

"Fringe benefits," the older of the two girls finished for her smugly.

"Oh?" Sh'del made a mental note to pull a stunt on Sh'dori soon. Very
soon. Knowing he was going to regret this, he said, "this way.". Over
on the beach sat his almost black Loranth.

"What's your dragon's name? I'm Chadora, by the way," the younger girl asked.

"I'm Sharixa," the older girl introduced herself. They couldn't have
more than Turn's difference in age, if even that.

"I'm Mardor and they don't let me hunt tunnelsnakes cause I'm 8!" the
boy was no slower than the girls to open his mouth.

"Ahh," was all Sh'del could think to say, assuming 'they' were very
clever to keep this one as far from a tunnel snake as possible. For
the tunnelsnake's sake. "This is Loranth," he told the kids as they
stopped before the tall brown. **Stop laughing, you oversized flit.**

"He's much darker than Rahmuth," Chadora noted. "Hello Loranth. Can we
wash you?" she addressed the dragon.

Sh'del didn't have to translate for the kids. Loranth crooned at them
all and laid down so they could begin. "He loves any attention he can
get, the lazy git."

"I like washing dragons," Sharixa said before going to fill her bucket
with water. The children started washing with youthful euthiasm. They
weren't washing dragon for a first time and it showed. They climbed
all over Loranth, chatting cheerfully, occasionally asking him to lift
his wing or move his leg, so they could reach him better.

"I think Loranth likes being washed," Sh'del smiled. The brown was
practically passed out in pleasure.

"We like washing dragons," Chadora said happily, water and sud
dripping from her wet hair.

Sh'del took the moment to sit in the sun and enjoy his bottle of beer.
As long as the kids were happy he could stop for a time and enjoy not
having to think. The weyrlings had been full on lately and one of the
new candidates were causing trouble with pulling rank just because her
uncle was the Lord something or other twice removed on her sister in
law's forth cousin's side...or something. If she got a green he was
going to pity the winner of her first Flight.

"We're done with him. He's all clean now!" the kids came to inform
Sh'del after a while. All three were wet from head to heel and looked
happy.

Taking one look at them, Sh'del laughed. "He may be but you lot..."
Pointing to the ocean and the slender form of Loranth paddling out
into the waves, he said, "out you gang go! Get that soap off you!"

"Yes, sir!" the children discarded their gear and most of their
clothes and ran to the waves. It didn't take long for water fight to
broke out.

Loranth was in his element. Sh'del made a mental note to thank his
cousin for the kids.
