Description: R'enh and Aishara renew their acquaintance
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 4 of Turn 6
R'enh had spent most of the day training and he'd been tired once he
and Mnoranth finally returned to their weyr. He'd bathed and even
soaked a little in one of the warm water pools before he finally made
his way down to the dining cavern.
The food looked incredibly good so he mounded up on tubers and steamed
vegetables. A handful of meat rolls added to his plate and he turned
to survey the room for a seat. Unfortunately it was the height of the
dinner hour but he spotted a familiar face.
He'd promised himself he was going to get to know the young woman in
question but he'd been lax in that area. "Well, no time like the
present," he said to himself and made his way toward her table.
"Is this place taken," he smiled.
"Look's like it's now," Aishara replied with a smile and gestured him
to take a seat.
He smiled back and slid his tray onto the table. "How have you been?"
"Just fine, you?" Aishare reply was short because her mouth was full.
"Better now," he said with a twinkle. " He picked up his drink and
leaned toward her. "I've been thinking about you."
"Really, now?" she swallowed her food, "Well, that always pleases a woman."
"Mmhmm," he said and swallowed a mouthful of liquid. "Well that's good
because I do like to please a woman." His grin inched a little wider.
"Aren't you a flirt?" she smiled widely. Of course, she enjoyed a
flirt too. Especially with handsome man like R'ehn. She also thought
him funny.
"Well, I didn't actually get a chance to use my charm last time."
"Well, someone used his charm," Aishara grinned. "Auymith was quite taken."
"Yes he did, didn't he." R'enh smiled. "So tell me a bit about
yourself Aishara." Mnoranth had done him a favor with this one. There
was something about her he just liked and he couldn't put his finger
on quite what it was, but he wanted to find out.
"What's there is to tell? I was born in Emerald Falls hold, my mother
died at birth, so it was just me and my dad and my milk-mother, drudge
named Heludia. My dad is the stable master in Emerald Falls hold and
was born in Thayan Peaks Weyrhold, so I had not the usual upbringing
for a hold girl. I hung around dad and the boys at the beasthold. I
know as much about beastcrafting as any junior journeyman. Since dad's
a weyrbred, I have relatives here. Grandmother, bunch of cousins,
uncles and aunts. That's how I ended up with Ayumith. We came to watch
my cousin Stand. Instead I Impressed. Whole of my weyrlinghood I was
known as the 'girl from the stands'." She made a face, that stigmata
had been very annoying. Fortunately things like that got forgotten
when juicier gossip came up. "So that's my life, short version."
"Well, I count myself very lucky she found you. Even if you weren't on
the sands that day." He smiled and pushed his cleaned plate away a
bit. "I was raised in the Weyr though my da was a smith. Mnoranth
found me when I was 16."
"Do you have a craft?" Aishara asked. She find herself genuinely interested.
He smiled, "well, just what you'd expect. I'm a smith like my father."
He was rather proud of that actually. "Though I decided to specialize
differently. I wanted something I could still do as a hobby. So, I
make jewelry."
"Jewelsmith? Doesn't that make you a every girl's dream man?" Aishara
said with teasing tone.
"I don't know about _every_ girl," he said with a glint of humor in
his eye. "I'm no where near the skill of Master Makarl at Amber Hills
but I can make some pretty things a girl might like. If that makes you
dream, so much the better!" Besides, he rather thought he had some
other advantages over the Master Jeweler.
"What girl doesn't like pretty baubles?" Aishara asked with a
rhetorical tone. "Although _I_ grew up wearing more mud than jewels.
Made my milkmother desperate."
He laughed at that. "I'm sure it did." Though he thought he wouldn't
be adverse to putting some pretty dangles in her ears or a nice bangle
around her wrist. She did have rather pretty hands. "Do you have any
children yet Aishara?"
"Me? Faranth, no!" Aishara replied with a mock horror.
He let out a full bodied laugh at that. "Well I do," he said. "He's
twelve and catching tunnel snakes when he isn't talking about beast
crafting."
"Well, to catch up with you... I would have had to start around age of
seven," Aishara grinned. The age difference didn't bother her.
"My my, that would have been precocious," he chuckled. R'enh found he
liked Aishara quite a lot and she was easy to talk to. Better than
that she didn't seem like she was sizing him up like a dragon
selecting it's next herdbeast. "Would you like to go for a walk?" The
question was out of his mouth before he had a chance to think about
it.
"Sure," she replied. He was certainly someone worth getting to know better.
