M'galec gave the waiting gold a polite smile and a bow as he walked past her into her rider's weyr, carrying a box in his arms. "Lenala. I'm here!"
Lenala appeared in the door to her sleeping chamber, her smile brightening when she saw the box. "It's about time you brought some stuff here. You can't exactly squeeze into _my_ clothing in the mornings!" Her eyes still held a hint of shadow, but some of her old humor was finally peeking through, though only when she was alone with him.
He smiled. "They look much better on you anyway." Setting his box down on the floor next to the door he leaned down to kiss her gently.
Her body relaxed against his as she returned the kiss briefly. "I'm glad you think so, because I hate to think how badly your shoulders would stretch my robe..."
"Hmm, that's true. Perhaps I should go back to my weyr and pick up my own robe." The bronzerider bent down to pick up his box again. She reached into the box and pulled out the clothing, smoothing invisible wrinkles out of it as she moved to hang it up. "Let me know if I can help.
Though I don't move heavy things!" She smiled at him over her shoulder. "I just drop them and injure myself!" "Well, if you injure yourself, I'll just have to heal you." He gave her a grin as he pulled a small box out from under a bundle of clothes.
"I'd rather skip the injuring part though," Lenala replied as she gave his tunic one last look. Judging it was smooth enough, she turned back to the bed. "I think I enjoy being cared for far more when I'm not actually hurt."
"I prefer it as well." He reached over and gently took her hand. "Let's not worry about the box now."
Lenala let him tug her closer. "Oh, and what are you thinking about doing instead?"
"I think I want to give you this," he said as he placed the box in her hand.
Smiling, Lenala wasted on time in opening the box, gasping when she saw what lay inside. "M'galec! It's beautiful!" Her fingers traced the gold necklace with its single amethyst in a simple setting, admiring the tasteful elegance of the piece. "Where did you get it?"
"Ah, now, that is my secret," he grinned. Gently, he lifted the necklace from the box and moved around behind her. He reached around her and gently laid the pendant against her skin as he wrapped behind her neck and fastened it. "But I just had to get you something. This new arrangement between us... It means a lot to me."
"Arrangement?" Lenala teased, turning so she could wrap her arms around him.
She wrinkled her nose at him as her fingers played with the hair at the base of his neck. "That's not very romantic sounding, now is it?" "Perhaps not. But this is not just a romance to me, Lenala. It is a commitment." He reached up his fingers to trace along skin as well as the fragile chain. "I hope that you would realize that, just as this necklace now belongs to you, so I too belong to you."
It was the kind of romantic thing that she'd always wanted to hear, and her eyes brightened. "No one's ever belonged to me before." He smiled down into her eyes a long moment. Shards but she was beautiful.
Soft and beautiful. Leaning in, he kissed her softly, invitingly.
She accepted his invitation, letting her lips part slowly under his. She couldn't quite bring herself to make the next move, though, much as she wanted to. The memory of what she'd done to Ar'lis was still too fresh, making her terrified of losing control and frightening M'galec away. The bronzerider leaned back and cradled her face in his finger tips, his thumbs lightly caressing her cheeks. He could see uncertainty in her eyes.
"I won't hurt you, Lenala," he whispered softly.
"But what if I hurt you?" she whispered in reply, unable to look away from him.
"You can't hurt me." He smiled at her reassuringly, desire filling his eyes. It was all she wanted to hear, and she relaxed against his body, her lips parting again in obvious invitation as she let her eyes drift shut. M'galec's fingers slipped into her hair as his mouth explored hers. He had been so patient, just waiting for the moment when she would give herself to him. As she relaxed into him, he could sense the moment had come.
