Teseada

K'ale woke from a dream or was it a dream. No it wasn't a dream.
Imalkyth's self-satisfied thoughts floated around him like a happy
fog. He had been brilliant and snatched the prize from the clutches of
the bigger bronzes. He lay entwined with the gold even now.

K'ale opened his eyes finding himself with arms and legs entwined with
her rider. "Wow," he breathed. Never once had he thought this could
happen.

It was the fuzzy feeling, the moments when you couldn't really tell what was
part of the dream, and what was reality. Slowly reality took over, and
Teseada knew what had happened from Onnyth and her feeling of contentment.

She shifted slightly, turning to look at the brownrider. "Hi," she said. "It
looks like Onnyth chose well again."

K'ale was still wrapping his mind around the fact they'd won a gold
flight and it took a moment before her compliment registered. His arms
tightened around her. "Thanks," he smiled. "it was an incredible
flight."

"I'd like to think we both did our best." Teseada managed a smile, part of
her knew that this was the one thing that she could never ever share with
Daran, but even so there was just something about flights that was so
amazing.

"Yes," he agreed with a warm smile. The warmth of the flight still
hovered inside of him. "You were wonderful," he said. He didn't want
to come down too fast, this was probably a once in a lifetime
experience and he wanted to savor it. So, he continued to hold her
close. They'd become friends over the last few months and he pretty
much knew where her interests lay. "Are you going to be okay?"

"I'll be fine," she assured him. "You and Imalkyth, they were what we
needed. Onnyth, she's more than pleased right now."

"I'm glad," he smiled and gave a tiny mock bow. "At your service
m'Lady." Of course he thought he might have a little bit of trouble
with her brother. J'nev wasn't exactly of the same mindset as most
dragonriders. K'ale had seen it in his attitudes towards others around
them, but he wasn't going to bring that up to Tesaeda. He could settle
it with J'nev directly.

"Are you hungry," he asked eyeing the snacks. He didn't think she'd
want a second round and he respected her reasons.

"I am a little," she admitted. "I think they'll have set aside some of those
cheesy pastries I like, once they realized what was happening.

He kissed her forehead before pulling his arm from around her and
sitting up to survey the tray. He smiled back at her. "It looks like
you're in luck." He threw the cover back and padded over to the tray
bringing it back to set on the bed like a picnic.

He slid back onto the bed carefully as not to spill anything and sat
crosslegged on the covers. He picked up ones she said she liked and
took a bite. "mmmmm," he hummed at her.

"I know they are good," she said as she sat up, pulling the sheets around
her to make a level surface for their impromptu feast. "And it looks like
there might be a bubbly pie or two in there as well."

After he'd finished the cheese pastie he picked up one of the
bubblies. "So, what will I need to do." This whole situation was
nothing he'd ever even thought about.

"Onnyth will need Imalkyth, you'll need to be there for him," Teseada
smiled. "I'm betting she'll let you watch the clutching, it's amazing to see
all the eggs appear on the sand, and slowly harden. She won't be able to
hunt for herself, and she might get a bit cranky, so I hope Imalkyth can
find a few tasty herdbeasts for her."

"I'm sure we can do all that," he smiled. "Whatever she needs. But,
will you need me for anything yourself?" He knew there'd be a feast
and all that but he hadn't paid any attention to what the clutch
parents did and he certainly didn't have any nice gather clothes. But
he could probably borrow something from his da.

"You'll need a nice gather suit for the hatching, people will expect us both
to look our best." Teseada thought for a moment. "How's your dancing?" she
asked.

He nodded at the suit. Then he shrugged. "I'm alright, I guess, if it's
simple."

"I'll ask the Harpers for an easy tune, because you and I will be expected
to lead off the dancing at the feast."

"Good," he smiled. "Maybe we can practice some time." Of course that
wasn't what was really on his mind. So, before his body could betray
the direction of his thoughts he swung his feet off the bed and looked
for his shorts.Pulling them on quickly he turned and grabbed for the
tray. "Finished?"

"I think so," she said. "I suppose it must be time to go face the rest of
the Weyr," and her unspoken thoughts drifted to Daran. How exactly could she
explain this to him, explain that it was about Onnyth and made not a jot of
difference about how she felt about him.

"Good idea," he smiled. His thoughts reached out to caress his
lifemate. Smug, sleepy, satisfaction was the impression he got. He
chuckled and bent to retrieved her dress from the floor. "Here you go,"
he said handing it to her.

"Thank you," she said, her words somewhat muffled as she slipped into it.

"Sure," he said as he gathered up his trousers and shirt. Tossing the
shirt on the bed he pulled on the trousers and fastened them then
reached for the shirt. He shoved his feet into his shoes and went
looking for hers. "I only see one shoe over here," he said holding it
up.

"That's one of mine," she said holding up the other. A hand reached out to
take it.

He placed it in her hand then resettled his shirt. "Ready to face the Weyr?"

"Ready," she said after the shoe was slipped on.
