K'ale

The little green had been antsy for days now. Cardella knew the moment
would come sooner or later. She'd adjusted to this side of Weyrlife,
but it still wasn't easy for her. Holdbred traditions were hard to
erase completely.

Cardella had been snappy at people for the past two days, totally
unlike her normal self. She actually couldn't wait for the moment when
Awenth _would_ rise so all this tension would be gone.

It came. It was getting late. Already dark. Cardella had assumed
another day would go by without the relief they both needed, when
suddenly, Awenth arose from her perch and took off with a bugle.

}:Who will chase me?:{ The green called out as she soared to the pen.
Her hunger was there. Unyielding. Awenth dove and dug into the flesh
and blood of the animal.

Cardella hurried to the Flight room, anxious, but eager at the same time.

K'ale felt the all to familiar pang of lust and knew Imalkyth was
chasing again. Though he didn't quite understand what would pull him
away from his mate. He'd been almost obsessively attentive to Onnyth
since winning her flight. **Who are you chasing** he queried as he
trotted to the flight room.

};Awenth rises and I will have her.:{

Unfortunately for him, another brown who had decided the same thing
was also there waiting patiently. Jodeth's eyes were whirling the fast
tones of lust, though, and the older brown meant to have his way.

P'nal didn't ask who it was and when he saw a female standing there in
the room, he did have a small sense of relief for a moment. She was young,
but she would do well enough. The brownrider obviously never knew that his
friend had once been infatuated with her.

}: I will! :{ Galerith replied to the green's challenge.

"Great, yet another greenflight," Sh'lua sighed. He had been sharing a
meal with his brother. "Are you coming too?"

"This time I am," M'shan replied, feeling a wave of dragon lust from
his brown. "Juth isn't as bad as your Galerith, when it comes to
ladies."

"Nobody is, except perhaps Kalamath. Come, let's hurry."
They abandoned their meal and hurried to the mating cots. Their
dragons were already there.

Awenth bugled her lust as she drank the blood of the beast. }:None of
you can catch me!:{ She declared with a trumpet as her hind legs
bunched beneath her and she darted into the sky. }:Come and get me.:{
She taunted the males below as she pumped her wings and felt the wind
rush against her body.

}:I disagree sweet Awenth. I can catch you and I am coming:{ came the brown's
voice. Unusually forward, he was indeed pushing himself already,
trying to compete
with the blues. Jodeth's experience didn't put him at a disadvantage
though. He knew
his limits.

}: I can catch you! :{ Galerith boasted.

".... Juth's steady, not frickle like your Galerith," M'shan was
continuing their earlier conversation.

"Galerith's not fickle, he just likes to chase them," Sh'lua protested.

"Yeah, like rider, like dragon, he's after everything that Flies,"
M'shan rolled his eyes, they were down to brotherly banter now.

"What's wrong with that?"

Imalkyth launched into the air and didn't waste an erg of energy on
anything but chasing the green dart across the sky. He was young and
made confident by his recent success.

K'ale moved into the group of riders around his friend Cardella. The
flight lust gripped him but he wouldn't make a move in her direction
until the result was sure.

Awenth chortled her delight as the males took to the skies behind her.

}:Who deems themselves worthy of me?:{ She called out, playful and
flirtatious. Awenth dipped her wings here, slipped close to one male
dragon before quickly pumping her wings to get away. She was toying
with them and enjoying it immensely. Her wings tipped another's and
she was almost caught, but a quick dip and dive and she was away once
more. Her energies were already starting to run low. It wouldn't be
long now and she would have to choose.

It was nearing time and he could sense it. Putting on another burst of
energy, Jodeth got close but not as close as some others. Still, she flew
away, he was in position to go after her-not as tangled up as some of the
others. Bugling, the brown took off and beelined for her.

The brother's lost their ability to talk when Galerith and Juth took
to the air, chasing the green.

Galerith buckled his admiration.

Juth was more silent type, choosing to follow her and to rely his
stamina. He could out fly any green, but couldn't match their agility.

}:Pick me beauty,:{ Crooned Imalkyth as he swerved down and to the
side. If he could just predict where she would end up he might catch
her.

Awenth was nearly full to gloating with all the praise that was being
showered on her. Yet, her strength was already beginning to ebb. She
could out twist and turn any other dragon, but could never keep up a
Flight as long as her chasers. She dipped in the air, dropping low,
before twisting around until her own green wings became entangled with
those of the brown she'd found herself beside. Imalkyth had won the
Flight, as the pair began their own dance in the sky above Pern.

K'ale wrapped his arms around Cardella and pulled her into the nearest
cubicle to mirror the passion of their lifemates.
