Cardella

It was still fairly new to her, this only being Awenth's third Flight.
Uncertain in whose arms she lay, Cardella took in slow, steady
breaths. The passion she'd felt from the Flight had ebbed. Now, she
was only left to wonder who had claimed her this time.

He'd been awake for a little bit and the memory of their flight filled
him with happiness. It hadn't been as all consuming as the gold flight
but Imalkyth's feelings of satisfaction were every bit as happy as
they had been then.

"Cardella," he murmured.

She _knew_ that voice. Turning, her eyes opened wide the instant she
saw his face. "K'ale," She was quiet for a moment, before whispering,
"I'm glad it was you."

He smiled gently into her eyes. "I am too." Waking up with Cardella in
his arms was a far more pleasant experience than some of his prior
wins. And he knew he would be getting the cold shoulder from half the
Weyr when he walked out the door.

"Are you alright?" He found himself very concerned over her state of mind.

She shifted slightly and then smiled, "All, alright," she answered
him. Then she found herself suddenly shy. How did she handle her best
friend winning her Flight, especially when she had had feelings for
him inside for some time. She wondered what he was truly feeling about
the whole thing.

"Good," he replied. He didn't try to analyze his feelings for
Cardella, she'd been his friend for a long time. For a while there
she'd even been his friend's romantic interest but he hadn't heard
anything from J'nev about her recently. What he did find was a
resurgence of the interest he'd had in her back when they were
Weyrlings together.

He kissed her.

She gave into the kiss and kissed him back. She found herself
comfortable and happy in his arms. She'd always been comfortable and
happy around K'ale, why would this be any different?

At her acceptance of his first kiss, he deepened it and puller her
closer. His hands began to wander over her lithe body. "Cardella," he
growled.

All of her fantasies and dreams seemed to come to life with his kiss
and his hands. She breathed a deep sigh of pleasure as her own body
began to heat up once again. "I want to be with you again," she
breathed against his lips, moving her own body to show him just how
eager she was.

His own body reacted instantly to her words and he pulled his head
back slightly to smile down into her eyes. HIs hands and body moved
over hers again and he watched the reaction in her face. It was
breathtaking. "Like this," he asked.

"Yes," she breathed happily as she gave into the feelings that consumed her.

A short time later, she lay gazing at K'ale. Her fingers were tracing
lazy circles on his arm.

"That was...wonderful," she complimented him, her own lips smiling at
the memories of just moments ago.

"It _was_," he agreed with a smile. And it really had been a wonderful
experience for him. Cardella was one of his very best friends and he
though that underneath everything they'd been through since Impression
he'd held her at arms length. But now, here she was,in his arms and he
wasn't at all certain he wanted to let her go.
