Oria

The greenrider could see the youngest weyrlings bathing down at the lake,
looking along the line of splashing dragons she swiftly spotted the one she
wanted to see, and made her way down there.

"L'cor!" she called out. "Need me to return the favour and help with him?"

It seemed every time he turned around the little bronze itched
somewhere as his constant feeding and sleeping almost made him seem to
grow before his very eyes. "Oria," he turned and smiled. "Sure," he
called. They were almost ready to rinse and then there was the oiling
to do. Of course it would go faster with two of them.

"I need to meet this handsome fellow first though," she said nodding her
head to the young bronze. "Will you introduce me?"

"Of course," he smiled. "Oria this is Tonuth, Tonuth this is my friend
Oria."

The little bronze trotted out of the lake shook some water off in a
shower. L'cor tried to protect her from the worst of it. But he was
laughing and dripping by the time he was done.

"Nice," he said and then. "Sorry about that," he added to Oria.

"He has a good sense of humour," she joked as she watched L'cor for a
moment. The pair seemed so well suited. "I think I like you Tonuth, and you
don't have to worry about getting us wet, it's warm enough that we'll dry
off soon."

"Glad you think so," he laughed flipping the water off his hands and
slicking his hair back. He reached for Tonuth's head and rubbed an
eyeridge just to tell him he wasn't really upset. "He is very playful.
Oh, and he likes you too."

"May I?" Oria reached out a hand to scratch an eye ridge herself. "Is that
okay with you both?"

Tonuth answered her by butting his head against her than. L'cor
laughed, "I guess that is a yes."

"Oh, I think so," Oria said as she began to scratch. "Tell me if I hit the
spot." She turned her attention away for a moment, even as she scratched the
young bronze. "How are you doing?"

"Tired," he smiled. "But then I'm sure you know all about that."

"It gets better, as he gets bigger, you need to do this less often. And when
he can feed for himself, well you'll suddenly wonder what to do with all
that time on your hands."

"Oh, I have the feeling they'll make sure we have plenty of things to
do," he laughed.

"Watch out for surprise tests. they did that to us a couple of times. The
few who failed, well lets just say they didn't have much of a rest day."

"Good pointer," he grinned back at her. "We'll have ot watch out for
those tricky Weyrling workers."

She laughed. "I'm sure you two will do just fine. I bet that steward's mind
of yours is way ahead at processing those facts."

"Well," he said slightly embarrassed. "I have been thinking over the
kinds of things that must go into getting us ready. I imagine it could
be rather frightening really. I mean if we knew in advance."

"You two will do just fine," Oria assured them both. "In no time at all
they'll be tapping you for a wing."

"Thank you Oria," he said. He pushed down the desire to reach for her
and instead just smiled and nodded. Sometimes it was hard to just look
at her an not touch but Tonuth was most important and too young. At
least that was what their teachers stressed. So his hands stayed at
his sides. "I know Tonuth will be great," he added with feeling.

}:Of course I will:{

L'cor closed his eyes and squinched his nose nodding. "He agrees."

"Degrorth is never wrong about who she chooses, she knows who will succeed."

"Then I am a lucky man," he said with feeling.

"In more ways than one bronzerider," she said.
